So you installed a square bore carburetor onto a spread bore intake manifold with one thin gasket.
If you install the seal plate and 2 gaskets (shown in post #12) the engine will run better than it does now.
Looking at these pictures with the engine cold the choke plate should be fully open and it's not. To get the choke plate open try to following the instructions in post number 6.
If the secondary air valve is opening too slowly you can turn the adjuster clockwise until it starts to open too soon and bogs.
Then turn the adjuster counter clockwise a little bit at a time until you get the secondary air valve opening at the right time.
The little vacuum ports on the front are for the distributor vacuum advance, the one on the passenger side is for emissions controlled engines the other one is for non-emissions engines.
