The original flexplate and original torque converter will fit.

Did you bolt on the flexplate and then try to bolt on the converter?

The only thing in there is the bushing there is no sleeve.

I believe the bushing will not interfere with the torque converter. Try bolting it on.

If it was me I would remove the metering rods to see if they are original and check the step up springs and pistons for freedom of movement, with pictures.
