    Aluminum Water Neck misshap

Getting your thermostat housing to seal. No matter if it is steel , aluminum or cast pot metal. They have to be flat. New repop ones are crap old ones are warped. Many of the pump housings are not flat. Take a straight edge and check your pump housing, Some need a little filing. Take a stat...

    AutoCityClassic's Radiators-Any good?

I can not say how well their fan and shroud sets work. 2 of my brother's run auto city radiators with mechanical fans and shrouds in GMs Both have had no problems. I can add another vote for champion though , I have their 26" 3 core in my 67 with a shroud and mechanical fan. Works fine.

Engine runs hot in slow traffic

At a 500/600 rpm idle will a dollar bill stay stuck to the grille ? If not it is a air flow problem. If it will you most likely have a coolant flow problem. You mentioned some 440 source parts. At one time they did have a batch of pump housings that had flow issues. How many years of crud...

    Help identifying fan shroud

There should be a part # on it. That will be the best way to track it down.

Thermostat housing leak fixed, not what you think.

Since I put the front end back together on my 440 I have had a small leak on the thermostat housing after 2 gasket replacements. Well been down this road before over the years. Checked housing for true flat. It was. Checked old cast pump housing with straight edge. Recess in housing was correct...

    100% anti freeze or 50/50 mix ?

I will toss this in.... my old coronet has a 50/50 mix of napa store brand antifreeze and water. It tests out at a -45 freeze point . All winter she lives in indoor storage. That indoor storage adds another few degrees of protection.

    Short Water Pump for 383?

Well just my 2 cents but after seeing the OPs pics I would remove that ((shroud)) and surface mount the fan and try it out. I have never liked that style of flat shroud. Looks more like a air flow block to me. If that electric fan has a decent cfm rate it looks large enough to do the job.

    Flex fans

I run a fixed blade 18" 7 blade Chrysler fan, It makes noise and I am sure draws some horse power. It will hold a dollar bill to the grille front at a 700 rpm idle, I do use a fan shroud and have good seals from hood to cowl and hood to radiator support. It is for sure a old style system but it...

    How many 12oz cans of R134a in a 73 RV2 system?

Low side line icy cold and sweating your real close to correct charge. No sweat and cool line your low Frost and ice on that line your over. When adding freon let it run long enough to work through the system and convert.

    Looking to replace my radiator

2843225 is a fixed seven blade , not sure on the clutch fan part numbers, There are many used on ebay. Plus we have a parts wanted section on here that may help turn up the parts you need. I just think a good fan / shroud combo and getting air flow were it should be will help you a bunch.

Need to replace my radiator | any good youtube video?

Michael to get started just drain your old radiator down far enough to remove the thermostat. Replace the housing with a new gasket and add your flush chemical ( what ever brand you have available in Germany ) top off with some water. You have to run the engine up to operating temp a few times...

    Looking to replace my radiator

With that 3 core radiator if your running 180 - 190 on the road when its hot out I think a fan swap to a oem style clutch or 7 blade fixed plus adding a shroud should cool it down at slow speed and idle. Make sure your hood to rad support seal is good and back of hood to cowl seal also. make...

Need help but not a Mopar

Not positive on your VW but most late model cars that use double fan rack can be pulled from the top. Look things over once you get the top cover panel pulled. Wiring will have plugs sometimes to a junction point on the back side of the rack. May also be a couple friction / push in wire loom...

    Fan clutch failing?

beanhead, I know apples and oranges... my 18" fixed 7 blade and shroud will hold a dollar bill on the outside of my grille at 700 rpm idle. As far as space you can use whatever length spacer you need to get it just right. But yes I agree with you on your fan clutch giving up at higher temp...

    Block Flush, Need Advice

Myself looking at the picture posted above see the radiator is blocked by the electric fan shroud. To me it looks like your only useing 15 or 16" of available radiator core. I know that electric fan mount /shroud to me seems way to close to the core to do much more than block air flow. Air...

    Cooling system, wits end

I am thinking you should go back to the electric fans then find whats killing the air flow at highway speed, AC condenser, electric fan shroud ? Try pumping the AC down and pulling the condenser out then take a drive. I know that is alot of work but if it runs cool then you can find another...
