Looks like a "B" stamped in front of the "440" which would be a 1966

Agree with Moparsteve, it's the casting date. It's not always the year that the block was machined and built. Most of the time the engine was built at least a year after the casting date. That's why I mentioned to check the ID pad on the front, top of the engine.

Here, I'll help you out Brian. What letter and numbers are on the flat pad. That will answer what you have there. "B440" would be a 1966 440, "C440" would be a 1967 440

The one in the top picture is what I received from the add in the second picture. You're not going to distort them like when tightening the factory ones or other aftermarket ones. On Summit and other sites that I looked on, the reviews weren't too great on the finishes on some of the top brand...

I found these on ebay. They are Elgins, made in China but are heavy duty and have a nice finish.
