Reasonable Time to Re-wire a Dash

It not only matters if you can work a wrench. but also how many times you have done that exact job. Any task done by someone who has done it many times will be many times faster than someone who hasn't done it yet. Each time you do the same task you learn from the last time you did it and you...

    Centerline Wheels On The Rallye

This mainly for vintage rims. Wheels are NOT all the same. Aftermarket wheels will have a DOT certification stamped ( or sticker) onto the backside of the rim. The early Centerline wheels were not DOT. They were changed later. Most racing wheels, tires are not DOT certified for street use. Just...

Where can I put breaker bar 71 318

The reality is, those who lack experience in any area will likely not know much about what they are looking at. Experience is something gained through both trial and error and the time it takes to recognize both. In your position if you want to learn about the inside of an engine and what the...

Where can I put breaker bar 71 318

Hmmm. I made the mistake of assuming. I said" if it is locked up " Not how to check it. He didn't say what he did so nobody knows if he tried to use the starter or whatever. Engine in a bottle is just snake oil. I guess a few people out of a lot more have gotten lucky I guess, and had no bearing...

Where can I put breaker bar 71 318

If it is locked up, do the right thing and just remove it. What will you gain by possibly breaking something or causing more internal damages just to get it to possibly move. If it is locked up it needs a rebuild. No magic in a bottle is going to make it run correctly. If you insist on this ...

Going to the paint shop... what to beware of?

And don't forget the overspray that will happen in the engine bay and interior upholstery. Always does..... Get the terms of the job in writing and record the conversation on your phone.

Going to the paint shop... what to beware of?

Disassemble it yourself. That way you know where the stuff goes and it won't get "lost". Whenever someone else is working on your car just assume that things will not go well. Things promised seldom get done completely/correctly. It will always take longer than expected, they will have people...

    73 Charger door hinge replacement

Good for you. Just an FYI. The "authentic reproduction" hinges are from Taiwan and are not exactly the same. Replacing a door without the proper door holding fixture tool is a 2 man job. Doing it yourself is more likely to result in damage to your paint/hinge/door or hand/fingers. Follow the...

    Factory wheels?

Just a note. Aftermarket wheels will seldom have the same backspacing as Factory. The factory designed rims for their specific cars, The aftermarket rims are generic and just have different sized lug holes drilled for the different brands of cars. Same wheel for all cars...

72 Plymouth Steering column vibration at 40 MPH

Obvious out of balance/round condition. If the tires are all the same size, perfect. Just rotate the front to the rear. If the vibration goes to the rear, solved. Depending on what type of rims and how the tires were balanced, it could have just lost a large weight.

    Constant project

Just a couple of suggestions. 1. First is safety. Do any carb or fuel system related repair outside in the open. Never in the garage or inside. Fuel system fires are more common than you think and it is not worth losing your house for. 2. Always have the proper rated fire extinguisher...

At what point should I reinforce the unibody

Unit body construction was intended to make manufacturing less costly. These cars were just spot welded together. 40-50 years later these welds work loose on a slant six car. Always a good idea to stiffen up the entire car even if it is just by going back over some of the stress areas and...

    74 RR door hinge rebuild

Just FYI. There were no bushings originally. "kits" That have bushings are generally because they are just using mass produced, standard .338 sized pins. with a bushing to compensate for worn pivot pin holes. We have custom oversized pins made for us, in the USA. No import parts of any kind...
