I had a secondary injector pinned to the wrong location causing it lean out a cylinder and back fire. I got that sorted. Ran a few soft 5.93s with 1.5x 60’ times leaving in second gear on E85 with 7psi. Running 17psi out the back. It coasted through the 1/4 at 9.37 so that was encouraging.
I will be doing massive burnouts with the trailer attached but definitely not racing lol. It’s mainly for convenience on Dragweek. And I thought it would be cooler than just a plain little trailer like everyone else pulls.
Working on a matching Superbird trailer and in need of parts of a RH quarter panel. Not as many people parting out these cars like there was a decade or two ago.
Yes, the arrow illustrates the shock mounts. My car will be low and I want that adjustment as my top mount is fixed. I’ll be running a fairly long show as the radial cars extend in the rear. They’re all good products from great people but I picked what worked for me. There is no one absolute...
Functionally, they both do the same thing with a slightly different method. Another case of “more than one way to skin a cat”. I chose these for the adjustability over my caltracs and the adjustable shock mounts on them.
In factory form, The Dana 60 is much stronger and takes less power to drive. In aftermarket form, the 9” is king in everything from parts availability and aftermarket support to shear power capacity. The weight difference is negligible once you beef up a 9” and in my power range, I feel both...
Cal-trac split monos showed up along with the Funkhouser Race cars rear traction bar setup. Now I just need to decide between a Dana 60 and the Fab9 I built as I have both.
You guys must be better with a razor blade than I am, lol. It would mean an entire repaint if I got a razor blade within five feet of a freshly painted car!
Low 600s is way more fun and way less expensive! I ran Drag Week in 06,07,10,15,17 with varying degrees of success, lol. This car will definitely compete on DW. I’m even building a matching trailer for just that purpose.
Changed up the nose mounting system as my telescoping tube mount idea was crap. Got that all done. Also found an original set of Superbird lower fender extensions and put them on. I’ll need to remake a new lower valance as the factory extensions were different from my home grown versions.
Yes, that is the stock mount and arm. I removed the vacuum cylinder and made aluminum brackets to hold the actuator. I bent the arm over to let the actuator center in the original mount. The actuator is a 2” micro unit off of ebay.
Ebay Actuator
Great write up. I just finished mine using a much smaller actuator. Time will tell how durable it proves to be, but for $20 to the door, I’m not out much if it fails.
