    Mechanical Temperature gauge fluctuations

Bill the problem housings should have been sorted by now. That was a 440 Source sold housing about 15-20 years ago that were made with smaller ports for some reason. This MP housing is laying on my desk with a cast iron one and port wise are the same. The only difference with this particular one...

    Mechanical Temperature gauge fluctuations

I've read that plugging that bypass is usually for drag cars NOT running a thermostat, also when cold the gauge will do weird things because there can/will be cavitation. It is meant to push all of the water through the radiator and no warm water into engine when still cold and usually makes it...

    Mechanical Temperature gauge fluctuations

***********OK Another UPDATE*************** I took all the accessories off the engine to paint it and in doing so I decided to take the water pump housing off and the pump and thermostat off of it. I found this "TRICK of the WEEK" under my thermostat: 1st. pic is a stock cast iron with factory...

    Mechanical Temperature gauge fluctuations

OK very happy with the past few days of testing, temperature rides around 172 in this weather and after about an hour went to 180 at a light. Pull away and right back to 170-175 so I going to conclude I had that steam pocket caught in the right side corner of water pump housing that now the...

    Mechanical Temperature gauge fluctuations

Small update: I have the car back together and am breaking in the rear gears. I have installed the two 5/8 nipples and looped a piece of heater hose to see if maybe a hot-pocket needed to move. Today's ride consisted of about a half hour and the gauge acted perfectly. Car ran in the 170 area and...

    Mechanical Temperature gauge fluctuations

The other day when I swapped the stat. I took a real good look at the probe to make sure it was in all the way or not too much and bottoming but all seems correct. The red bushing will only go so far into the housing and then the probe goes into it and seats nicely. Your idea about backing the...

    Mechanical Temperature gauge fluctuations

Bill I really feel this isn't a "temperature" issue but just a fluctuating gauge issue. As soon as I get the 5/8" nipples I'll test and see if this goes away. The factory gauge isn't indicating any trouble at all but it's screwed into the left top of housing. Was just hoping to hear maybe one or...

    Mechanical Temperature gauge fluctuations

That's my best guess right now so when the heater core nipples arrive I'll loop them till my Vintage Air system arrives. Ron

    Mechanical Temperature gauge fluctuations

Close-up of the red bushing Auto Meter provides with the gauge and the probe. This is how Previous owner installed and i just followed suit when I replaced the gauge. Is this not how it's supposed to be???? Explain. Ron

I provided a picture which shows the cable and probe on water pump housing passenger side and factory sender and wire on driver side. Ron

    Mechanical Temperature gauge fluctuations

I bought my car with temp. gauge fluctuations, so first thing I did was replace gauge with a new Auto meter gauge ATM-3432. Still happened from time to time. I have a 180 Mr. Gasket thermostat and a Moper Performance aluminum housing and WP. I don't have a temperature gun yet but plan to get...

Has anyone bought and used this radiator?

OK another update for anyone that cares: Had my buddy put a new neck on the radiator so as to clock the cap properly. Got it all installed with a factory #326 fan shroud and an 18" flex fan for now. Painted it black and will road test tomorrow. Ron

Has anyone bought and used this radiator?

Just a small update: I bought the unpainted version from ACC and the cap doesn't line-up as some have said so waiting on a new neck to come so my buddy can cut this one off and weld on new clocked the right way. Then I'll paint it black and move on. Ron

Has anyone bought and used this radiator?

Not a problem at all. the beauty of my car is it's a super nice mostly original paint car but drivetrain is all hotrod! 440 manual auto and 4.10's. I am slowly making it less hotrod looking under hood without taking away any horsepower. The big finish will be this winter when the engine gets one...

Has anyone bought and used this radiator?

Sorry but that is the aluminum radiator style (look) I'm getting away from. I have a perfectly working flat-top aluminum in the car now. The main reason for the change is so the ACC unit will look similar to stock once painted sans the #'s.

Has anyone bought and used this radiator?

Think I may buy a bare one and save $50 have my buddy cut off and re weld the cap neck and then paint it afterwards. Ron

Has anyone bought and used this radiator?

See that would be a deal-breaker for me, if they are trying to mimic a stock radiator they have to have the cap in the right position too. Thank you for the information. Ron

Has anyone bought and used this radiator?

Well I asked the seller two questions and he couldn't answer the first one and neglected to answer the second. I asked if the radiator cap ears will line up parallel with the top tank as factory and I asked which P/N shroud does this radiator accept? he couldn't answer the cap question and...
