Is the 440+6 idle solenoid necessary for street use?

Actually I think the solenoids were there for emissions too idle up these engines at times too burn more hydrocarbons, and are actually the cause of at least some of the run on. That’s just based on my research though. I’ve read that some solenoids are there to open the butterflies and others...

Appreciate continued discussion and feedback on the solenoids in this thread. FYI I moved my intake questions to a new thread. https://www.forbbodiesonly.com/moparforum/threads/is-this-an-original-1969-5-440-6-bbl-intake.213106/

Is the 440+6 idle solenoid necessary for street use?

Many thanks for the pichers Dave. Appreciate your taking the time. Don’t know if it’s the camera angle, but looks like they might be slightly longer actually. Hopefully someone else knows how long they are supposed to be. I’ll remember that trick though

Is this an original 1969.5 440 6 BBL intake?

Is this an original 1969.5 440 6 BBL intake?

Another bit of info that might shed some light on this particular intake is I think the guy I got the manifold off of name might have been named Mark, or possibly another name with 4 letters, last name may have started with a P. This was in San Antonio in circa ‘96. He had a 70 Bee or R/T...

Is this an original 1969.5 440 6 BBL intake?

My memory is my exit ports look nothing like that. They look ‘normal’ or not odd shaped. I’ll see if I can dig up that thread from either A12 or Moparts site. .I’m thinking it was moparts now. Said original carb ports looked similar to mine and there were variations in the core shift but...

Is this an original 1969.5 440 6 BBL intake?

I’m pretty sure it was rattle can painted when I got it. Doesn’t look raw aluminum in person, but maybe. I got stupid for a few seconds one day and then came to my senses and stopped painting it orange back in about 96. Here’s some more pics but none of the port exits.

Is the 440+6 idle solenoid necessary for street use?

I’m thinking I’ll just look for a cheaper one, maybe non serviceable one, that looks correct as mentioned above and fake it lol for the look. @RJRENTON

Is this an original 1969.5 440 6 BBL intake?

It has the provision Does this look like an original 69.5 or early 70 leftover original by chance? I read long ago on the A12 site the six ‘ 6 ‘ is a little weird and the core markings on the bores on originals look like mine. Any experts want to weigh in? Like I said when I got this the...

Is this an original 1969.5 440 6 BBL intake?

Oh thanks. I got my aluminum manifold in about 1996. Traded for it. At that time I don’t think the reproductions had the part number cast in and the guy I got it from had had it for a long time. Pretty sure I recall updates, long after I got this one that they were going to add the part...

Is the 440+6 idle solenoid necessary for street use?

I’ll have to check mine when I get to the storage. I was looking at @gtx6970 post and wondering just when you posted. I don’t recall holes there. May have some pics of mine somewhere. I did see some brackets for 70 models to mount the solenoid as a repro item. Will post pic of bracket below.

Edit I split some of below out from another thread and started this new one. Wondering if this intake I have is an original 69.5 intake or not. Always wondered. I’ll have to check mine when I get to the storage. I was looking at @gtx6970 post and wondering just when you posted. I don’t...
