Vapor lock revamp thread, any interest?

Exactly. Cars with clearance under the hood benefit with a spacer under the carb. If you are short on room there are drop bases for many air cleaners that can help the clearance issues. The spacer really helps with the running vapor lock like the OP is experiencing. It will help with heat soak...

New gas tank sucked in. "Vented" cap? Hmmm... help!

All tanks need a vent or a vented cap. The check valve above looks like a slick deal. The later model cars (late 60's and up) had vent tubes and later canisters.

    Seeking a Fuel Pump Recommendation

A street 383 not modified or slightly modified? 5/16" works fine. Ma Mopar made millions of big block cars that all ran fine with 5/16. Put on the 3/8" if you choose. It wouldn't hurt.

Do I need an electric fuel pump? 71 Charger 440x6

If I was racing I would probably need a electric pump and a regulator. The only reason why I would put a electric pump on a street car is to prime the carb after it sets a few days and takes a lot of cranking to start. Then I would put it on a momentary switch. They make little pumps that work...

Evaporation. It didn't used to happen before the puppy pee gas we have now. It happens with most carbureted vehicles nowadays. Set a cup of gasoline outside your garage and see how fast it goes away.

Takes forever to start after sitting for a few days...

Not if the choke is closed. Most never carbs have a choke unloader to clear a flood. It opens the choke at wide open throttle.

Takes forever to start after sitting for a few days...

Of course it does until the carb bowls get some gas in them. You can crank your engine for a long time and it may not start until you set the choke. Pumping it may help or it may flood it. Pumping it with a empty carb will just get you air.
