68-70 B body clutch/brake, steering column support rod

I sent an email to Dave Rea who owns DB Restorations and used to work for Graveyard Carz until he opened his own place, and asked him about this support rod. He said this rod was only put on non rallye dash cars, RR, GTX, etc, not Chargers or some Coronets. Yes, it was for safety, but he's...

68-70 B body clutch/brake, steering column support rod

I found this video you posted a while back that shows a dash without the rod. 69 Charger dash removal: I'll probably just leave it off. Thanks for the help.

68-70 B body clutch/brake, steering column support rod

That's why I started this thread, I have seen tons of pictures with out the rod and only a few with it. I don't think it will really make a difference if I don't install it, but I'm weird when it comes to stuff like that. If it's supposed to be there and I don't put it back it will bother me...

68-70 B body clutch/brake, steering column support rod

Yes, I had bolted in the right position. I put the dash on the side bolts and rolled it up, but the tach was going to hit the rod. I took the rod of and installed the dash. I had a buddy over helping me so I just installed the dash without the rod because I didn't know when I would get him back...

68-70 B body clutch/brake, steering column support rod

I put the dash in my 1968 Charger today and there was no way I could get the dash in with this rod attached. The rod was in the way of the tick tock tach. Is there some way you know of to get the dash in with this rod?

68-70 B body clutch/brake, steering column support rod

Does anybody know if this support rod is on the 68-70 B body for any specific reason? 4 speed, automatic, etc? It seems to be a pretty rare support rod. Out of all the pictures/articles on support rods I have only seen this rod a couple of times and never found a real reason for it. Thanks...

    1968-70 Door glass trim seal

Excellent. Just what I was looking for. Putting that trim on with a rubber mallet looks a little scary. Lol Any advise besides soft taps and taking my time?

    1968-70 Door glass trim seal

Does anybody know if they make an aftermarket seal that goes in the U shaped channel side of the door glass trim? This is the trim that mounts on the door glass and closes up against the quarter window. I know they make a felt seal that closes against the quarter window, but I can't find a new...

    ‘69 Charger MSD location recommendations

Did you mount the box to the frame rail in place of the vacuum canister or on the inner fender wall? I was thinking on the frame rail, but it hangs over the edge and can only get two mounting holes to fit. What did you use for mounting hardware? Thanks

Vinyl top moulding to side belt moulding gap

Yeah, I'm definately going to live with what I have instead of trying to mess with it. I'd probably end up screwing something else up. Lol Thanks for the help and the pictures.

Vinyl top moulding to side belt moulding gap

Can someone give me a gap measurement from the vinyl top moulding to the belt moulding behind the quarter window off of an original car. I had a vinyl top put on my build and the gap the guy left seems large to me. I don't think it really can be moved because then it leaves a big gap on the...

1968 Charger grille trim mounting help

I checked around and it looks like the only real deifference between the 68 and 69 kit is the red square pcs. Do you have any idea why the longer and shorter studs and where they might go?
