With aluminum heads and parts, the 302 might weigh less than the GT6 motor, but easily have twice the power. A recipe for fun... until the diff goes: POP! TVR used small block and V6 Ford power plants and Salisbury diffs similar to Jags. I went to a Rover V8 and had to buy new front...
Spitfire body on a GT6+ chassis with GT6 hood. The motor was a TR6 built close to the factory completion manual, without 12.5:1 compression. The intake is GT6, carbs are TR6. The intake ports are straight in and down, so porting is just enlarging. Had a PI camshaft and springs. It ran pretty...
I raced with a club that classed and went by rules according to the SCCA. My car at the time had to run A Mod, which meant I was mostly last place, unless somebody messed up. I was in with real road race cars, Wissota powered Vettes, and the like. I was there to get my heart pounding, not a...
at autocrosses around here, there is usually a Miata(s) battling for fast time of the day and sometimes get it. bastards are not far from stock either. A guy works hard using factory competition manuals, the internet, and sourcing cool parts to have a fat Lotus Elan clone Miata, spank you...
14 inch perfomance tire (25") $437 ea.
https://sascosports.com/tires_search_results.asp?tire_manufacturer=Dunlop&tire_model=&tire_size=&std_rim=&rim_diameter=14
Same tire in 15": $500 ea. I like Dunlop tires
Kind of... a Lotus Super Seven
I bought them used from Hemmings when we had to go by descriptions over the phone. Had not heard of them so the guy was trying to describe them. To cut the conversation short, I asked: How much do they weigh? He said: On the bathroom scale, wheel and race...
7 1/4 tread works on a 1,300 pound car. I recently bought an excellent carcass, a straight and solid former race car that was always indoors. I might tub it while I can get to everything easily.
One of the most noticeable mods I did was go to Revolution wheels that weigh 9 pounds. A 15x6...
They were/are A509. 185/60/13, but I don't think they make that model today. When my current set are gone, I'm not sure how I will go.
16 inch wheels are available, but my Revolutions weigh only 9 pounds each. 16 inch wheels are too heavy. Luckily, Formula Ford, Lotus, and many other cars...
There are plenty of sticky DOT legal tires available. Get out the checkbook because none of them are cheap. Hoosier and Mickey Thompson come to mind. My Yokohamas were like race rubber when new and were supposed to go 20,000 miles, I got 6,000 miles out of the rears. That's not so bad for...
The dog dish with thin trim rings, letters in unless they say Goodyear or Firestone. No Cap, chrome lug nuts and trim rings looks good too. I went with the dog dish and trim rings
I'm assuming the wheels are 7 inches wide. Do you have any photos of the face? I'm trying to find the best tires for a rig that came with H-70/15's that had a very square edge. They were 9 inches wide so I'm looking at a 255/70/15. The last tires were Milestar which had a good edge, but they...
I'm looking at Milestar 255/70/15 tires (14 much the same) as they look a lot like Goodyear Polyglass tires. Looking for that square edge. Coopers do too, BF Goodrich don't
50 year old alloy wheels are not safe, unless it's a parade car. Buy new and try not to look at them.
Reading this thread, I learn that these wheels have a 5 spoke steel frame inside of the alloy. I would use them, but not in competition.
