You already know the story, bigger cams, higher stalls, lighten the car..... A lot of the rest is just fluff.....the chrome dress up kit will reduce wind resistance lol.
Doctor Diff sent me the wrong ones for my '64, even tho he had the proper info. I got Timkens to finish the job at a great price on Rockauto.
If you need shims....i have no source at all.
If you could find a nice set of big valve '915 heads on the cheap ( since everyone jump on the aluminum bandwagon), that would make a nice upgrade in the quench department....
But if you cant find them cheap, you may as well splurge for edelbrocks, etc. or stick with what you have. The right...
Considering the number of years 383's were made, and the sheer number produced (the most popular big block by far, IIRC), that makes the cast crank version a big minority. Forged 383 cranks should be pretty easy to find.
Shimming was not difficult at all. However, there are no shims to be found that i know of..... You would need some extra junkers laying around to snag parts off of.
