    Understanding Thermostat Temps

An engine runs most efficiently when the temp is about 195F to about 210F. Higher or lower has consequences. I've always preferred a 180 since that's when the t-stat opens, and the operating temps will usually be higher especially in warm/hot weather.

    What's it Worth 452 heads

If I can get an absolute perfect looking pair of 452 heads I might pay $100 for them, only because it saves time and money getting them clean. I would just toss the valves and all of the valvetrain. Might keep the shafts if they aren't wore, but all the rest goes. Oddly enough most BBM iron...

    Understanding Thermostat Temps

"1b. If a car runs hot with a 180/195, and lets say the cooling system is all correct and working (including pump, fan, shroud, how much the fan sticks out of the shroud), wouldn't a 160 cool the engine off some more? IMO the engine will at some point reach a thermo equilibrium. Any temp rated...

Doctor Diff Viper-Style 13" Front Disc Brake Kit

Technically, it doesn't. I got my car with lug-centric slotted mags on adapter rings, and drove it for many years without issue. That was a very lo-po version of the car with half a foot of sidewall in the wheel. I'd prefer for this version of the car to have the wheels mounted hub centric if...

    GLSSA weekend

Fridays 16 car shootout was going to be difficult. Knew I had to be on my game. Plenty of hitters looking to grab the $3200 purse. I was close in rd 1, -.001 red. On to today. Won 3 rds and was paired up against my buddy Dave. For rd 4. Ive worked on his car quite a bit. It spun all yesterday...

    Understanding Thermostat Temps

I do what you are asking about, a 160 is reaching full open sooner and can make it work on some cars. Other just keep getting hotter until you fix the problem. Different cars need different things and a 160 does work on some of them. I don't understand everyone going off on 160 thermostats...

    What's it Worth 452 heads

You'll get opinions on this that you may not like. Iron heads appeal to two types of people. CHEAP dudes and guys that are obligated to use them for specific racing classes. If someone is willing to pay even $100 for these heads, I'd be surprised. They are not rare and not hard to find. They are...

    Understanding Thermostat Temps

Hello All, First off, just want to say I've read a bunch of threads on this forum about thermostats, how they operate, and what everyone's preference is. I am not looking for an argument to start up (which seems to on everyone thermostat thread), but I am still wondering a few things: 1. Why...
