You can make any relay control a ground circuit or a power circuit. It is like an on/off switch for what ever circuit that you hook up to it.

I can see needing good grounds, As all electrical loads need. Special relays though, All relays are the same, except for how much power they can handle. They are basically an on and off switch operated by a 12v signal sent to them. Maybe they need to be replaced if they are old and failing but...

Unfortunately I do not. I put in the MSD about 20 years ago. I'm not sure why I left that ballast on there. Is it safe to leave it or should I connect the wires together?

I got it running like it's never ran before! I put on a set of MSD street fire spark plug wires and reset the carbs back to all factory settings. I then slowly adjusted both carbs equally using the idle mixture screws. Ended up at 1.5 turns out. I then set the idle with the primary idle screws...
