    340 Engine, stock build

The block is now ground and honed to 0.0015" piston to wall clearance. I measured the compress ring gap and ended up with 0.018". Is this ok? Shall take my block away to start other works?

    340 Engine, stock build

Thank you very much. I kept my floating rods and had them rebushed, ready to install now. I do have other choices of machinists but this one is among top 5 in Tehran. The only problem is they dont have access to the documents. I showed him the book and we agreed not to go over 0.0015! Any...

    340 Engine, stock build

I got new parts today: Piston rings, SEALED POWER. What are those red and yellow marks on the oil rings? Oil pump with M72 number on the body. Is it the right pump for my 340? Your comments are most welcome. Also, I am still waiting your feedback about piston to bore clearance.

    340 Engine, stock build

Thanks for your comment on pistons. Are they forged pistons? Do you have any idea about the proper clearance for them? Yessss! My friend surprisingly has all the parts I asked for, all original made in USA NOS parts! and the prices he offers are really reasonable!

I got the new parts as listed below: Main bearing Rod bearing Cam bearing I got two problems and need your help. 1st, my friend offered me to convert my current "floating" rods to the "pressed" one. He says that "pressed" rods have better function at higher RPMs. He has a set of heavy...

    340 Engine, stock build

I got my Summit cam last Saturday. A friend of mine took it with him from USA: I also took those Badger pistons and ordered the other necessary parts including the 360 heads. Meanwhile, I couldn't find any Fel-Pro head gaskets here in Iran but could find original NOS Mopar gaskets: Do you...

    340 Engine, stock build

Hey, look what I found here at a local shop! New set of 030 pistons for 340 Engine from 1982! These are from Badger pistons, safeguard engine parts. The shop owner is an old friend of mine and is asking 100$ for them. Do you recommend buying them for a stock rebuild? He seems to have the...

My location is not important at all because I need to get what I need from USA anyway! I am not looking for bare blocks now but I need an engine.

8 3/4 lowest gear ratio available

That's actually what I am looking for, haha. Top end extremist with noticable launch. I am trying to gather all the parts I need at one place and have a forwarding company ship them to Dubai by sea. That won't cost much. From Dubai to Iran is very easy through the Persian Gulf.

8 3/4 lowest gear ratio available

You mean I have to look for a stock one? Is the stock 2.76 gear powerful enough to handle the extreme load of a stroker big block?

8 3/4 lowest gear ratio available

I checked a few vendors but non of the seem to offer 2.76 gears! Aren't 2.76s being reproduced?

8 3/4 lowest gear ratio available

Wooow, I didn't know that! I try this next time I go to the garage and post the result! Which aftermarket vendor is more reputable and has 2.76?

8 3/4 lowest gear ratio available

I'll love it then. Thank you all for the useful info. Now, how can I tell my own gear? How should I know if I have a sure-grip or not? It is the original gear of my 1973 Charger 340 Rallye with 727. Another question is, how strong are the stock gears? Can a 2.76 gear handle the high pressure of...

8 3/4 lowest gear ratio available

Yes I am from Tehran. The fuel is 1.15$/US Gallon, seems very cheap but the average income here is less than 400$! Yes, using tall tires would be another consideration to increase the final ratio and I would like to use 16" wheels. Maybe 245/40-16 would be my choice.

8 3/4 lowest gear ratio available

As a highway cruiser, I have to observe the speed limit of 75mph but when there is no police I may want to satisfy my soul by going as high as 150:headbang: but actually, I am thinking of the 512CID stroker motor along with the highest gear to achieve reasonable millage. I would like to see the...

8 3/4 lowest gear ratio available

I have non O/D 4 speed A833! The gears available from the old era are no more used by the modern cars. I think I can get better millage with something like 2.2:1 gear and nicer highway cruise. In case there is a stroker big block behind the story, I believe a higher gear is the winning point. Do...

8 3/4 lowest gear ratio available

Sorry to make you confused, I meant the highest ratio not the lowest! Anything higher than 2.76:1?

8 3/4 lowest gear ratio available

Does anybody know the lowest ratio gear available for 8 3/4? Is it possible to custom order the gear near a specific ratio?
