I just read a post on Facebook that stated "Leather or fabric upholstery options". My parents purchased a special order 71 Road Runner when I was sixteen years old. I don't remember a leather interior being on the option sheet. Did I miss that available fabric choice back then?
My parents new 1971 383 automatic shifted into second and third at exactly 4,500 RPM at full throttle. At the drag strip I would manually shift at 5,500 rpm.
But my question today is: At what engine speed does the factory 904 in the '71-'74 BBody 318 shfit at full throttle? Thank you.
Might use the 340 performance exhaust manifolds when I replace the factory 318 with the 340 I am building for our '72 Satellite Sebring Plus. Anyone with experience doing so before me that can give me a heads up on whether to use a 90 degree oil filter adaptor as well? Thank you.
I can't remember for sure the appearance/style of the "383" decal on my parent's new '71 Road Runner 383 bahama yellow with air grabber hood. I thought it was some kind of reflective material and don't even remember if it was a dark color or a light color. Anyone know the correct application...
According to my photo many years ago, I removed the hood on the '72 Satellite the last time I pulled the 318 motor. This next time I would like to make an attempt to leave the hood in place. Is this idea feasible? Who has tried it before? Thank you.
I tried this before and failed (I was trying to bolt it directly to the radiator support). According to some recent photos I found, it is attached to something else, but I can't determine exactly how and where. And with a shroud, power steering, and that battery tray looks near impossible...
Re: 1972 Satellite Sebring Plus. I sent off my instruments to have the ammeter gauge converted to voltmeter (and general gauge restoration). Now I find the speedometer is nice and steady but reads too fast. The odometer evidently is right on the money, so changing the speedo pinion gear won't...
My parents purchased a Bahama Yellow 1971 Road Runner with the black strobe stripes. In 1972 they changed 'em. I can't explain why, but I always cringe at the '72 change and prefer the '71. And it bugs me somewhat because they are so similar. Anyone else share or does not share my preference?
I have read that the drip rail chrome is different on vinyl roof BBodies '71 to '74 (I have a '72) than vehicles with a painted roof. I guess I'm kind of a "doubting Thomas" (hard for me to picture factory making up two different sets). Has anyone ever measured them out to find out if there...
Local Mexican mechanic here in La Paz, BCS, Mexico just gave me a call this AM and told me his SSP was back from the paint shop (GF7 Sherwood Green). I ran right over to check it out:
Highlights: 318 V8, column shift 904 automatic, bucket seats (no console), clock, inside hood release, LH...
Were the 71-72 SSP available with rallye dash, bucket seats, and column shift automatic?
Was there a way to order a factory front stabilizer bar for a new SSP like the Road Runner used as standard equipment?
Thank you.
Most everyone I see is a big fan of the '72 Road Runner grille. I was wondering what Chrysler/Plymouth had to say about it back then? Is anyone privy to literature, announcements, advertisements, promotions, commercials, or posters from back then that specifically promote/explain/praise the new...
