When I was about 10 years old, I would go down to the stoplight on a local four-lane highway. I saw this car do this very thing on a public street with slicks and uncorked headers. I'd later became friends with Ron Thorson, who owned the record holding W 30. His brother owns the car now, and...
It's not easy to find the right mechanical help. Could go to a drag strip and find a Mopar racer you might talk into looking at it. Is there a local Mopar club in Youngstown?
a quick search suggests a 1969 440 RR was 3/10ths of a second and 1 mph faster than a 383 RR in the quarter mile. (automobile catalog). 14.1 vs 14.4 and 97 vs 96
a proper tune up can yield a lot of missing performance. weakened advance springs or less than ideal timing rob noticeable power
I had one of my Chargers less than a week when I spun a bunch of bearings. Don't know what happened, I was just idling along downtown at 10 mph. (that's my story). Never thought to return it, I'm so dumb.
You can do a compression test to look for dead cylinders. To start it as a redneck like me might, find a good fire extinguisher, put a short length of hose on the fuel pump and put a coffee can for gas under it. two tablespoons of gas down the carb, jumper wire on the coil, then jump it at the...
I bought a paste in the Old Keystone rock shop, a paste whose name escapes me at the moment, but it's the lapidary paste the window repair kits have in them; $3 per ounce. I polished on an unavailable front windshield of an English car. Harsh wiper marks about 6 inches long, but no scratches...
So I ran everything 15 minutes with pine-Sol and everything came out pretty clean. There are still oily grime on a lever and dust on the bottom side of the float. I tried acetone, but that didn't take off the caked dust on the bottom of the float. Maybe a weak Miuratic Acid solution? I know...
I did the first cleaning on a carb yesterday and it cleaned pretty good, but left some stuff. It may be that I had parts in zip lock bags and they interfered with the cleaning action. I put some injector cleaner in one bag, but didn't notice any difference. I used dish detergent, but today...
They look too healthy and friendly to be strays. They must be from the neighborhood. If so, it sucks that they are allowed to run loose. When it comes to cars, dogs are dumb
I'm thinking they have a home, but they like you and their people are not as responsible as some of us and let them roam. Go home tonight as usual, make a u-turn and sneak up on them from a distance and see what they do when you aren't there.
A note for everyone about micro chips. There are two different frequencies used and two different scanners to find them. One scanner does not find the other chip and vice versa, but there is a scanner that finds both chips.
