When you have it apart pay close attention to the plastic accelerator pump hose. T-Quad has a hose from the pump to the nozzles which is unique to this carb. Often overlooked. A crack or poor fit can cause accelerator pump symptoms.
More specifically what is the intake and what size are the openings ? Picture ? They do not have a square throttle blade set up like Holley 4150 or 3310 style.
A large volume fuel filter between the pump and carb does the same thing, acting as extra volume available on acceleration. Since you have more volume to move, an electric fuel pump mounted at the tank would be the best setup.
When you have more volume, you also need a pump designed to move...
Proper/safe way to prime carb is to fill the fuel bowls through the vent tubes. Never pour fuel down carb. Sure way to start a fire especially if you get a backfire and have spilled fuel on the outside of the carb.
Always do work on the fuel system outside of your garage. Many people have lost...
Since you didn't say what was on the engine before, I will have to assume it was a 2 bbl.
If so, the throttle and transmission kickdown linkages will be too short.
Correct thing to do is to get the correct linkage /manifold mount first. This will establish the correct factory location so that...
Safest way to refill the bowls is with a squirt bottle having a rubber tube to connect to the bowl vents.
Squeeze fuel into the vents to fill the bowls and use the accelerator pump to prime the carb.
Before you get out your drill... swap another carb on it and see what happens.
You shouldn't have to modify the carb to work properly.
Did it ever run right before or is this a new build?
Some mistakes can be very costly and dangerous as well.
Make sure you always have a full fire extinguisher handy and that has the correct rating for your use.
Really mandatory in anyone's workshop.
Obviuosly you haven't saved any $$ not including your time doing it yourself. I would send it to a reputable builder, like Woodruffs who have the experience and parts and tools and skills to do it right.
They also flow test them and leak test them before returning to you.
Like anything else...
It tells you a lot if someone is asking how to machine something.
Should probably leave it to a pro. You only get one shot at it and if it goes bad, you're done.
A carb restorer who does this for a living has the experience, tools and proper parts to get the job done right.
If he screws up, it...
Simple, you just need the tank designed for 2 1/2" lifted rears...Oh wait ,they don't make one..
Also make sure you now have the correct length shocks. They will top out on bumps if you don't.
Do the obvious, easy stuff first. Check all fuel lines and clamps.
A leak will act like sucking through a straw with a hole in it.
If you get the same thing to happen again. Take the lid off the air filter and operate the accelerator pump. No squirt ? most likely no fuel in the bowls. Leaked...
You nailed it. The pickup works with gravity.
Lifting the rear of car tilts the perceived level of the fuel so the sending unit will be out of calibration.
The gauge will never read correctly if the tank is not level.
Imagine filling a bath tub and then lifting up one side. It will never be...
