I didn't do the math for rpm's, just for final drive. I have 3.23's now. 3.91's should result in a 3.05 final with the gear vendor. I put a fair amount of highway miles on and the 3.23's aren't terrible so I figure a little improvement on the highway and a pretty drastic improvement in town...

It drastically decreases the rpm's you're running down the interstate. This keeps you below stall speed on your converter, therefore it is slipping as you're driving. This is the reason for lockup converters.

Thank you Cranky, that's usefull info that tells us the exhaust manifolds are definitely the most restrictive part. So if I can find someone that can tell me the max hp the 915 heads can support, stock vs modified then I'm on my way to building an efficient combo.
R413- I said I was trying to avoid aluminum heads, headers are period correct, and you can't see the fuel injection or a stroker crank. Or at least I can't. I'd like to avoid headers just because of the possible leaks, but if they are more of a bottle neck than the heads, I would probably run...
