Crosspost from FABO, sorry if not allowed or if you've already read it
have a 71 340 that's in need of a rebuild, I'm just unsure and kind of worried about doing it myself. It has already been freshly rebuilt, but the guy who last did it mixed and matched parts, it has 30 over stock replacement...
This is a OEM Mopar 1972 340 Idle Solenoid? It was in a box
marked 1972 340 with some other parts, and I believe that's
what it is. It is untested, and obviously needs a good cleanup.
$45.00. Local pickup, or buyer pays shipping.
This is a OEM 1970 to 73 340 vacuum advance #3656066.
It works good, but could use a cleanup. $25.00. Local
pickup, or buyer pays shipping.
This is the correct distributor vacuum advance for the
following with 340 CID engine and electronic ignition:
1970-71 Plymouth Barracuda - 'Cuda - Duster...
Here is a 1970 340 out of my Friend
Gregg's (RIP) shop.
It is the steel Crank and the 496 Full floating rods.
It has all the accessories pictured including the factory HP
camshaft and double roller chain.
It has timing cover/pan /water pump/ fuel pump/Motor mounts/
dampner/ pulley/ brackets...
I've never seen a '70 Charger with a 340. :p
Maybe you meant '70 Charger R/T?
:)
I like whichever one you find with a 440 six pack or 426 Hemi.
4 speed is mandatory of course.
I have two passenger side exhaust manifolds (casting #3418623s see photo) for the 340 I am putting together and I can't find a driver's side (casting 3418621). I have a pair of 318 exhaust manifolds on the '71 BBody I am working on. Will I be able to use the driver side 318 exhaust manifold on a...
Going to a 340 or 360 head requires more than just putting the heads on it.
Because of the chamber volume and port size on the 340/360 heads it will drop the compression ratio on your 318 by 1 point!
So if you have a 8.5:1 now, it will have a measly 7.5:1 with the other heads on it.....not...
I have a 73 roadrunner, the original 340 sits in the corner of the garage. The 340 in the car was punched out 40 thousands, at 11 to 1.I switched to a steel crank from cast shot peened, internal balanced now, I'm running EX 274 comp cam, with 3200 stall torque converter and 4:30 gears in rear...
I see Rock Auto lists the same fuel pump for '71-'72 318 and 340 engines (i.e. Carter M6866). Did the factory equip them the same also when new? Thank you.
I just installed some Spiroloks in aftermarket cast replacment full-floating pistons (.040" over with four valve notches) for a 340. Although the package of spirolok has 32 pieces, I don't see any room in the narrow piston groove to insert two per side (they measure 1mm thick). Part number used...
Measure the vertical of the port, 340 is much taller. Check with a 340 exhaust gasket, check the head and then the manifold. I would say no, will not work.
Could not find a 318 heat shield/gasket when I rebuilt my 318 and tried a 340 exhaust gasket, stock cast iron manifold, no way.
Electronic ignition started in 71, I had a 71 340 Duster with points, but in B bodies in the 440's etc. the electronic ign. started. 72 was the year all cars got it.
