Tips differed by years, not make of car. '71-72 had the long slotted/bazooka tips like what I just got. '73-74 tips were the same style but shorter. I'm not sure about the insert color differentiation, they were either red or street hemi orange. Go to the Classic Industries website, drill down...
Hello Gallery Gods,
My Mopar mechanic bud is closing up shop. He's had these exhaust pipes and tips for probably 15 years off someone's BB '71 or '72 Charger. He's cleaning out his shop and knew I wanted them so he gave them to me. 2" pipes, I believe original tips but aren't sure.
Before I...
Hello. These have been sitting in my garage and am looking to move them but this is NOT a For Sale ad. I'm looking to identify what's here: BB vs SB. I don't know and am looking for someone knowledgeable to enlighten me. Thanks.
All very good questions, R413. a few answers off of the top of my head:
idle vacuum: will have to throw my vacuum gauge on it
idle speed: 500-800rpm
exhaust smell: recently runs rough when cold, low idle, as if the electric choke is not functioning.
Fuel age: recent, less than a month
Sitting...
Long-time member, haven't posted in a while. Older enthusiast. Having fuel issues. Question is, fix what I have or slap on a new carb (which I have)?
Car is a '73 Satellite Sebring Plus. Motor is a rebuilt 360, ported heads, 340-spec cam, HP exh manifolds. Engine has about 3-5k on it.
Carb is a...
Yup. I put 3.55s behind the 360 in my '73 SSP (245/60-15s on the back). Gives it a bit more attitude while still only being a cruiser...or it gives me a bit more attitude
Thanks you for all the thoughtful responses. I'll be going back and forth on this. While it hustles (I forgot to mention a RR torque converter, I don't recall what stall), it is pulling about 3900 lbs with me in it. And the two B-bodies I had before this one both had 440s.
Oh, to have...
Bores are .040 over, current cam is a Hughes grind (flat tappet hydraulic)(I think its this but can't put my hands on the cam card right now):
SB HYD FLAT TAPPET CAM 224/228 -111ºLSA
LOBE LIFT .345"/.353"
3.55:1 gearing
So, I'm looking ahead to 2024 and have decided to shelve the idea of putting a 400/440 in the SSP cuz too many other things need to be changed out for a SB-BB swap. I'm thinking stroking the 360LA that's in it will give me what I'm looking for: a lower rpm, stump puller type 408, budget street...
