73/74 RR Torsion Bar Question and Opinions

Does your '74 have large rubber "donut" isolators between the K member and body? If so, they probably need replacing if you can find replacements. My '79 has them, but I don't know when Chrysler introduced them to B bodies.

    Questions about front shocks.

...that and installed the upper control arm bumper, the shock was roughly 3/4" from the tower to the stud bushing at full droop. Without the bumper, it would have been easily double that. But like I said earlier, SOSDD[ same old s..t different day]. And as everyone can see, the picture is off...

Your best beater that you beat the snot out of but it kept treating you well?

Ford Explorer. Got it with 145k on the clock, still had original plugs that the electrodes were non-existent, but engine purred. Did maintenance, but stomped it to over 300k and the rotted hulk was still purring.

Best fuel mileage I personally experienced was my 68 Formula S, 4 speed with a 71 340, TQ and headers. That one got 25MPH (imperial gallons so figure 20MPG US) at 75-80MPH. I didn't even mess with it. I probably could have tuned it even better but I was happy with it the way it was. I know lots...

Pieces of something under 383 valve cover??

Yup, I did an engine rebuild years ago for exactly that. Yes, you can, and should remove the oil pan. You can swing the centerlink out of the way to remove the pan.

73/74 RR Torsion Bar Question and Opinions

What is a torsion bar ? It is a spring. Springs have "spring rates" meaning a measure of its "stiffness". Higher a spring rate, the stiffer. The larger the torsion bar diameter, the stiffer. It's really a matter of personal preference dependent on your intended use. If you're seeking a firmer...

For those in the market for a new home.

I used to have my own "test 1/4 mile" nearby. A stretch in an industrial area that was seldomly used. However, with development in years since, it's become a heavily used artery. No matter, my "testing" days have subsided.
