The more I read this, the more I think there are details missing in this story.

I put some recovered Recaro seats in my 68 charger. Eventually want to redo the back seat, but with the change to steering wheel, 5 spd and seats, I think they blend in pretty well.

Maybe the item was not actually in stock at the shop the day you walked in, and they would need to ship it out to you? If that was the case, you obviously were not told that.

Some more additions to complete the Chevy look (some of my coworkers had poor taste): Side exit tailpipes. Hijackers (and stickers on the windows). Traction bars. Large panoramic rear view mirror. Fuzzy dice hanging from the rear view mirror. Name painted in cursive on left door window...

I would think you are way past any solid probationary hiring period. I suspect legal advice here is best. However, if your current employer is on the ropes and motivating them pulling a fast one, there likely may not be much left to receive after a bankruptcy if you pursue legal recourse...

About 25 years ago I had a set of dynomax headers on a truck. Came jet hot coated inside and out. Worked well for heat control. Still looked good on top half. Bottom looked rough and rusty after a few winters.
