    Can you test/check ac/heater box?

I bought a cheap spool of vacuum hose and connected it to a running car, through my garage window and tested the full operation of everything on my bench.

    Transmission options

Do you like shifting or not? That is the big question. I went with a TKX behind my 470 with TFS heads as my last build had a 727 with a loose converter (turbo Action J) I prefer the feel of a locked up clutch over a slipping converter around town. The Silver Sport TKX needs no floor mods other...

    Big Cocke build

When I saw them polished on another car, I liked the shape and thought they would look good color matched to the engine, I’m happy with the results. Same with the color, I wanted a turquoise like a 66 383 would have been but changed it up a little with a different shade

Waiting on my bellhousing at the Powder coater, found a molded hose for my breather, and a sneak peek at my TKX. Got word from Strange that my Dana 60 will be ready to pick up next week..

Scatter shield for big block/TKX 143T flywheel

There is maybe 1/16 of taper on the TKX input shaft

Scatter shield for big block/TKX 143T flywheel

No photos, but I get 1/2” of input shaft penetration in the pilot bearing with the block saver in place.

Scatter shield for big block/TKX 143T flywheel

Lakewood also makes a cast aluminum bell housing for the TKX behind honestly I didn’t measure it, I took it to my friend, Ted at Opel engineering and he set it up on his mill and bored it for me. He did say the original bore was not very round, it is now…. As for machining the bearing retainer...

Scatter shield for big block/TKX 143T flywheel

I’ll mock up the bell housing with the trans and no clutch and get some photos this week. I have to weld in weld nuts for the trans to bell housing bolts, while I'm at it I’m going to add weld nuts for the starter mount and bell housing to block saver bolts as well so I don’t have to deal with...

Scatter shield for big block/TKX 143T flywheel

The QuickTime Bellhousing for a big block to a TKX is 7.270” face to face, the Lakewood is 7.500” and the roller throw out bearing Silver Sport supplies mounts in the torque converter pocket in the crankshaft so it sits further back in relation to the crankshaft.

FOR SALE 66-67 charger coronet floor shift steering column

That’s a 67, the 66 was non collapsing, and the diameter of the collapsing column is larger so it won’t fit a 66 Dash.

Scatter shield for big block/TKX 143T flywheel

Yes it’s an old 833 bell housing.

Things sure get tight right here, but everything clears, I’ll mount my spare steering box this week and get the hoses made and plumbed.

    Big Cocke build

Mounted my bellhousing to check runout and my go-no go gauge fit right in! I’d rather be luck than good. Next is to weld in the weld nuts for the TKX bolt pattern, starter bolts, and the block plate holes so I don’t have to fight the nuts if I have to disassemble it in the future

Scatter shield for big block/TKX 143T flywheel

Silver Sport makes a cast aluminum one, I’m in the process of modifying a Lakewood scatter shield to fit, bored the register out to fit, and drilled the mounting holes, the lower bolt on the drivers side is tricky as it hits right on the radius where it starts to “bell” towards the block.
