My plans right now is to put my Firecore Distributor back in, it was set and built to my timing and specification and has been working great for two years now. with 24 degrees advance in to so my base is set to 12 for 36 all in, I can bump up to 14 with 38 all in but I need to get it to run...
Metering rods move as they should, I have had the same timing for over 15 years never had an issue, so I am really not willing to change that since this problem happened out of the blue and the timing was checked and remained the same.
I am working on getting another carb to try from a friend. I have tried most of the suggestions and nothing has solved the problem. Its extremely frustrating and my car budget is non existant right now.
I really appreciate all the advise and help, thank you guys.
I am still stuck though. I would like to know if anyone else has had this stalling when in gear issue. This was a sudden thing, happened when driving home from a cruise night at a traffic light it would just not idle in gear. dropped...

Timing at idle is 12 degrees with 36 all in at 2800-3000 rpm. This thing has run great with this timing for years. never had this Idle drop out in gear before. The distrubutor (both that i have) have check out fine, with advance working. They even worked in a friends car as they are...
I believe it is something simple, just cant find it. my power brakes operate off an electric vacuum pump so no motor connection there. I checked the lines from the distributor advance to the carb (tight no leaks, checked that with a vacuum pump and guage), same for the PVC. I still have the...
O.K. my setup for this car may seem out of wack but with the 484/284 cam my best street idle in gear is from 850-900 rpm. I have driven it set this way since i put the 440 in it back in November of 2000. The car is happy there, runs great, and it drove from GA to upstate NY several times with...
update, on my idle drop when put in gear. I have had a little time to start going thru this car. Timing is correct, no distributor issues (for either one I have put in), I have installed a new fuel filter (much needed) and replaced my new coil for one that was known to be good, also changed the...
I will as soon as I can get a helper. the whistle is only when the car is idling in gear. not in park.
could the fuel pump not be keeping up when the car is in gear? I can rev it smoothing to 3000 rpm in park and neutral, under load its completely different. since this happened when driving...
I can not load a video. sorry. I will say one other thing if this get people thinking. I did try disconnecting the vacuum advance and re timed the car and idle and as soon as it was put in drive the RPMs dropped to 350. Really need help with this, or the car will be sidelined and put on...
The car is running and starts easily. The idle when in park is at 1000 rpm (100rpm lower than before) but the idle is smooth, only when put in gear does it drop to 400rpm. The power brake booster is off a separate vacuum pump system and has no connection to the motor. The pvc valve is working...
440, .030 over, 484/284 cam, Edelbrock 750 carb. Base timing 12degrees with 36 total, using firecore distributor and mopar electronic ignition. 727 trans 2800 stall converter. Car has always ran at 1100 rpm in park and 900 in drive, I have two distributors both have checked out and are in...
I appreciate the articles, i just cant read them on the thread, and saving them they come out too blurry to read. so I appoligise fro not reading them. As for my issue i have ad 12 degrees base timing with 36 all in for years without any issues, even drove this thing from Atlanta GA to Lake...
o.k. I found the problem. The Vacuum advance on the distributor is not holding vacuum. I am using a Firecore from Mancini racing, and its timing has been spot on with no isues. They do not seem to sell just the advance for the distributor (has a smaller head than a stock one). I dont have the...
