68 Charger with Sniper. The 10 micron filter was leaking. Its Holley 162-550.
After removing and draining all fuel I blew through the filter to check for restriction. It felt restricted/clogged. I had another exact filter, blew through it, and it felt normal. So I installed the different...
400/512, Trick Flow intake, Trick Flow 240 heads. All parts installed new out of box. Low mileage engine, 300-400 miles since built, probably less. Putting smaller intake on so hood can go back on. When I removed Trick Flow intake there was oil on the intake/head mating surface. Oil is on both...
Have a 68 Charger that I want to get to 11.5 in quarter. I don’t know what the car weighs but should be a few hundred pounds less than stock.
The car has:
400/511 440 source stroker 600HP/650TQ at 4500 RPM on pump gas
727 (sportsman series) built by Protrans. Billet internals, reverse manual...
I had a hell of a time removing old pickup from 440. Finally got it out yesterday and went to install new pickup from 440 source (part # 121-1056). Now the issue is I don't think the the threads on new pickup are NPT. They are are different from the pickup that came out of the engine. A Milodon...
Need some advise. I cannot get the oil pickup tube out of this 440. Engine was built in 2011 so its been there for about 13 years. This is a 1/2 inch tube. The machine shop who built the engine enlarged the opening to 1/2 so I have to assume it was done correctly. I have tried vice grips...
Engine is 440/496 with hyd roller cam and Crane Gold roller rockers. Engine assembled 12 years ago and has 2500 miles. There is a loud ticking noise coming from top end. I removed valve covers and found some loose rockers:
#2 exhaust
#6 intake
#6 exhaust
#8 intake (#8 exhaust valve is open)...
I removed the carb, Proform 850 DP, from my GTX for a clean up. I have not driven this car for almost a year so I wanted to clean everything up before engine start. With carb on the bench I removed the bowls, jets, and bleeds to shoot some carb cleaner through the passages. I did not disassemble...
The brake lights, turn signals (left/right forward/aft), and flasher are not working on 68 Charger. Everything else works as it should. Is there a common denominator between these three systems? All the obvious stuff checked good: bulbs, fuse, connections, etc. The dash is not installed with the...
Having many problems getting this engine to run. 400/511. I'm not sure of the timing. In the pic there are two marks: white mark on post #1 of distributor cap and a black mark on distributor base. The black mark represents where rotor is pointing with engine at TDC on compression stroke. The...
I have a 68 Charger. Need an ignition switch. Switch on left is what came out of car and switch on right is new one. Besides the difference in terminals the bezel thread pitch is also different. Is the new switch for 69 and above or is this the substitute switch for the correct part?
Ordered a new ignition switch for 68 Charger, however the trreads on the new switch don't match the bezel. The threads on the bezel are course and the new switch is fine. What gives? Did I get the wrong switch? Switch came from Vans
Having problems getting this engine to run properly. I think timing is the issue. The pic is with #1 TDC on compression stroke. The rotor is at about the 7 O'clock looking from front of car. In this position it aligns with the designated #1 on the cap. I've seen other photos where the rotor is...
Almost ready for first engine start with engine in the car. Transmission, 727 by Protrans, has sat for about 2 years now. It was run on dyno but shipped dry so nothing in the pan. I put about 1/2 quart fluid in converter before converter install. How much fluid should I put in trans before...
I using Mopar Performance cast aluminum valve covers on 511 build with Sniper. I have the correct PCV grommet for this valve cover but I can't locate a fixed orifice PCV valve that works with the grommet designed for this cover. The ID of the grommet is .470. I can't find any fixed orifice PCV...
