You might want to check the harmonic balancer. Old style balancers had a bonded polymer insert. With age, the insert will deteriorate and flex or even separate causing the inner and outer pieces to shift. One quick way (although not the most accurate) is to put a socket on the crank bolt and...
It is best to test a warm engine but I was taking a lazy mans shortcut. I was mostly just looking for consistency or some anomaly. I put a scope in that cylinder and there was nothing unusual.
The car had not been run for two weeks.
I decided to do a quick leak down test before I put my car back in the trailer. The engine was cold. The test was done at 90 lbs. All cylinders came in at about 7% except for #8. That cylinder read about 2%. I turned the motor over again and did the test. It read the same, about 2%. The heads...
I'll try to keep this short. I bought a set of Accel ceramic for my race car. I thought they'd work well with my headers. I had to put the distributor ends on myself. The two longest wires intended for 5 & 7 were too short so I had to buy two additional wires at $28 each which by the way come...
Beautiful car!! I'm sure you are aware of this but make sure your cable and the pedal are at the farthest pull at WOT. Otherwise you will pull against the throttle plates and eventually stretch or even break the cable. Worse case, you can cause the carbs aluminum base to egg out at the throttle...
Mine was fashioned after an old compressor made by Moroso way back in the day that a friend of mine had. I actually called Moroso about it and all the guy could say is that it only had a 4 digit part number and he never heard of it. Works great on big block and small block heads. The handle can...
Thank everybody for the replies. I wasn't going to name names but they were Accel "universal" wires with the ceramic spark plug ends. I liked the idea of the ceramic ends, especially with headers and the fact that they don't wiggle around like rubber ends when trying to install. You know when...
First, let me explain my question. I recently purchased a set of brand name "Universal" spark plug wires for my race car (RB block). I bought the universal set so I could control the length and routing of each plug, nothing fancy. Upon installation I found out that the three longest wires would...
Yes they have but in my old age I have noticed that finding a real radiator shop with a real radiator man has gone the same way as trying to find a real parts man, or even a real tire man.
Did you get the correct nss for your year transmission? They will all screw into the housing but the wrong ones won't match up to the the rooster comb.
I don't know if you got this fixed yet but as matthon said, the ground for the parking/turn signal housing is through the screws of the housing to the bumper, not the ground on the radiator support.
Does the Mopar relay click when the key is in the start position but the starter does not turn over or is there absolutely nothing?
There's a big difference between the two starter relays.
Ford starter relays are designed to deliver high current to the starter motor and the solenoid at the same...
The keys to a pushrods strength are Material and wall thickness.
Your example is stated as being "steel" but I couldn't find any info on the wall thickness. Not a good choice in my opinion.
The others pushrods mentioned were both chrome-moly. That's good.
The comp cam 7402's are stated as .080...
I would agree that 195-200 is not really overheating, especially if you are talking about consistency at idle and at speed. However, from personal experience and what I can make out in the pictures, I'd say your shroud is too close to the core. I wouldn't really call that a shroud. Shrouds are...
Check two grounds. That ignition box needs to be grounded via it's mounting to the firewall. New ones usually have a thick coat of paint on them. Also, make sure your engine is well grounded to the frame/body.
MP was created to fill the gap between S/SS classes and Gassers. As for the differences, I'm not sure how MP evolved over the years but originally you had to maintain all the body panels like inner fenders, braces etc. Chassis & suspension could not be modified, no straight axles. Multiple...
I may be a bit confused but you said you are checking for grounds, you have the positive battery post disconnected, the negative battery post connected and you are connecting the test light to the positive battery post. If I have this wrong, disregard the rest of this.
If I read it correctly...
