Negative, but I am making progress. Last week I was measuring with no load. Now I'm measuring with load and just back probing different connections and I was able to find a decent sized voltage drop from the amp gauge. The connection was really clean, but it was a little loose. I tightened that...
But I just replaced the alternator with a new powermaster alternator and it acted the same with both the old alternator and the new. I know you can get bad parts out of the box but I don't think it's the alternator itself. I think it may be the wiring in that charging circuit.
I have confirmed that the neutral safety switch works. I have even jumpered the grounded side of the starter relay to the battery negative and get the same results. The issue is that I'm getting under 11 volts at the starter relay. It's weird because I can unplug the connection at the ballast or...
I'm gonna try swapping seatbelt control modules but I don't think that's the main issue. There seems to be a voltage drop somewhere downstream of the bulkhead.
No, its been like this for a few years now. I noticed it after I pulled the old 318 and put in a 360 about 2 years ago. I installed a new engine wiring harness at the same time I swapped engines. I have since replaced the alternator with a power master unit and I also pulled the bulkhead...
74 Road Runner with a 360 that won't crank over with the key. I can jump the contacts on the starter relay and it will crank. I ran a jumper from batt neg to NSS terminal on starter relay and still no start. This tells me that the NSS is not the issue. I measured voltage at the yellow wire while...
I have a 74 Road Runner with rallye gauges and the brake warning light is just hanging out behind the dash not plugged into any socket. Where is supposed to be plugged into? I don't see a spot for it?
Mine also has a blue rubber sleeve over the brake warning bulb, is that factory?
Yeah, I agree it may not be my immediate problem, but I think it will be in the future. Believe It's the yellow wire that brings power to the starter relay coil and that isn't bypassed yet.
That's what I have done with the black and red wires. But thats just a bandaid, they just need to be replaced. I'll probably have to just buy a random connector on ebay and splice it in.
I have a 74 Road Runner and I only have 10V to the starter relay coil when the key is in start position (which isn't enough to trigger the relay). I traced it back and it looks like this connector is probably my issue. It's burnt up and melted.
I found the ignition switch harness with the...
I also pulled the yellow wire off and measured the voltage on the wire when cranking and it was 9 volts. When I jump 12v to that bottom left terminal with the yellow wire unplugged then it turns over. So that means the nss is working. I think its gotta be bad wiring/connections with corrosion...
Okay now I'm back to thinking it's the ignition switch or its wiring. When I measure the voltage at the bottom left terminal of the starter relay (yellow wire) when the key is in the crank position, it's only 9 volt.
I have a 74 roadrunner with a 5.9 mag in it and I've noticed that it sometimes takes a couple key turns back and forth to get the starter to fire. It's been getting worse and worse, and now it doesnt start. Starter is new about 5 months ago. So I'm thinking it's the ignition switch or wiring to...
