I want to thank everybody for your responses!
I installed a set of stock heat range plugs back in it, removed the washers and took it for a spin, seems happy so far!
Again, Thank You All so very much for the advice!

I was thinking the same thing in regards to the bottom of the plug tubes getting worn/distorted without a washer on the spark plugs. There was a tad bit of oil in the bottom of each plug tube before I removed the plugs and it huffed alot of blue smoke when I fired it up after installing a new...
Hi all,
I have a question about spark plugs for a 426 Hemi. I'm told by a coworker that I should remove the crush washers from the plugs before installing them. Just curious if this is true or what your guys opinion is about the subject? The plugs I removed that were installed by the engine...
Does it have front torque boxes? The 440 equipped cars came with both front and rear toque boxes. My guess is that it may possibly have been an issue at the plant it was built at? They were either built in St Louis or Windsor Ontario Canada, I have seen differences in the bodies between plants...
I agree, I would reinstall the shroud with your current set up. I have had good luck with Redline Water Wetter, it actually works.....
I have a 71 Road Runner with a built 440 in it as well, but I run the stock 26" Radiator with a flex fan, but am switching to an electric fan this summer, I had...

1) What starter are you using, mini high torque starter, or stock O.E. type?
2) What thermostat are you using, 160, 180, 195 degree?
3) What kind of 16" fan are you using? flex, clutch type, static or electric?
4) do you have a fan shroud?
5)...
My dad special ordered his 73 Road Runner new in March of 73', build date was 4/73 IIRC.
Original horn was purple, mounted behind right front headlights.
With that being said, I have seen many 73-74 RR's with black horns and purple horns mounted in either left or right fender locations behind...
I am 100% sure that is the scoop off of a 1979-1982 Ford Mustang. That scoop made it's first appearance on the 1979 Cobra 4cyl Turbo Mustang. It went on to be used on the 5.0 V8 GT models as well.

I hope I'm posting this in the right place? I own a 1971 Road Runner, 440/727 combo. It's not anywhere near perfect, in fact it needs a total restoration. But in the mean time until I get the funds together, I'm having a blast driving it! Nothing fancy or special about the car except for one...
