A fella was asking about a wiring glitch. All I did was to respond to my similar problem. Lighten up. I have had many mopars that have had no problems with electrics. That was not the question originally put forth.

All old wiring not good. But ask any old timer mechanic and mopar wins the difficult to find and fix.

Chased same problem for 2 years. Ate 4 batteries. Ruined 2 holidays. There is a bad connection in the bulkhead connector. Finally fixed by the 4th mechanic who looked at it. Mopars are notorious for over volting. And crappy grounding.

Did up 440 not stroked,but similar build. Don't know how you came up with your c.r. without a parallel deck on block. I used Arp head bolts, .027 Cometics. No heat problems. Had custom 4 core rad built on stock upper tank. Big money, but maintains stock appearance.

All true, you gonna spend 12 k plus to get 550 out of a 440. 440's put rods thru the block first off. And you will need big headers for the big alum heads you will also need. Reliable hp not cheap, do it right or forget it. You can still buy a lot of gas for 12 grand.

Done all that too many times Stock cast manifolds, use 440 motorhome gaskets. Trim up if you like.

500 in. 9.5:1 will do you fine. I run 30 over [email protected]:1, tf240, hughes hyd roller less than your cam, Chevron 94 and this engine is marginal. 34* total with 6 on the hub. When she is hot, shut off in gear. 11:1 to much for fun on the street.

Not quite, but close. Sounds like they are using less lifter preload than they ask for. Had to set lifters 6 times till it sounded less like than the eve of destruction

I used all Hughes engine top end, hyd. roller cam. H.D. roller lifters, their adj. rockers, Smith Bros. Push rods. Engine runs great BUT hyd. rollers are LOUD. Way more noisy than mechanical lifter/cam set ups.
