Well, considering the TS was speaking of a 1964 Polara, I assumed I didn't have to specify the year or model. That's what I get for assuming.
1964 Polara.
I bought the manual hoping it was step by step on things like they do with modern cars, but as I've read through a few sections, some of this is kind of unwritten "figure that crap out, you're the mechanic." Ironically, I was just watching Graveyard Cars last night and Mark Worman discovered...
Sorry, you've got to go back one screen. Here is the correct link to the literature page for a 1964 Polara.

Just a side note, that manual is half that amount on rockauto. I have the one from rockauto and it is identical to the original.

Very helpful. Did you run into any issues with the body being that far away from the pivot point? It just seems to me that would be a lot of leverage, but then again I don't know how much the stripped shell weighs. I just don't want to run into any issues with it turning. The one I have...
Did you use longer bolts and go through both walls of the tubing or did you drill a bigger hole on the outside and use the existing bolts to only bolt one side of the tubing up to it? I'm guessing longer bolts but figured I better ask.
Yes, I'd like to see a picture of what you came up with. I don't want to take any chances since this car means so much to my family. No options for any "uh-ohs" with this one.
All the threads I've found on this are old and I can't see the pictures, but I'm sure somebody has been through this. I recently bought a rotisserie and it came with all those brackets that everybody offers now. The front is no issue, bumpers are off so I can use the provided unibody brackets...
Yep. I had the engine/trans/k-member sitting on jackstands and lifted the body off of it. Then I pulled the engine/tranny off the k-member and reinstalled the k-member so it's still a roller.
Well, that was the plan. When I lifted the body I had forgotten to take out one little 7/16 bolt and...
So I'm getting stuck on this interior removal on my grandmothers 1964 Polara. This interior removal is a LOT longer process that I thought it would be. Really starting to think I need to go ahead and buy a service manual at this point. I've got no clue how to get these window regulators...
Grounding is the most important electrical connection. It causes massive problem, even today. Make sure they are good grounds, and it never hurts to add a wire from a component directly to the body, or even better, the frame.
Got the engine dropped today. Holy crap what a pain to pull it from the bottom! First time I've had to do that, and man, I am feeling it now. Broke the distributor cap on the way out, but no other damage. I even found an old spark plug that apparently one of the previous mechanics had...
