yes when i go thru with it, i will have the pistons measured down in the whole. Id want to do it right this time around. As i get closer to that point i will let everyone know, making sure i get the best info
Thanks guys for the input!!
yep my car runs great on 87 gas, but i always ran 93 just to be safe. It will idle all day in traffic and wont overheat. It did 5 WOT pulls on the dyno before it got over 220 degrees.
It does sound like we have the same pistons.... I did send a email off to 440 source last night to get their...
I dont have the part number in front of me right now, but i remember they were silvo lite pistons. Flat tops. I do remember there was 2 different options. A taller piston and a shorter piston. I went with the taller which was suppose to give me 9.5:1 compression. But with the 906 heads and...
I need the 75cc to bump my compression. My engine builder "misunderstood" me when i said a stock rebuild. He ended up putting in some flat top pistons, using stock heads and a cam that is 2 steps down from the original cam. The engine runs good, but its basically a motorhome 440. We figured the...
Reading thru that article i see it was written in 2011...7 years ago
May have been some fairly new products for edelbrock, im sure by now they are alot better. The thing that gets me is the cost. Obviously there is some differences between them and 1600 dollar heads.....but for my car, which is...
looking to purchase a set of heads for my 440. It was rebuilt with fairly low compression (sub 9.1:1)
looking at getting a set of these heads, suppose to bring my compression up 1 full point, so i should be in the mid 9.x:1
just looking to get some feedback.....i think even tho they are "base"...
Yes great show again. Tons of cars! weather was just about perfect. Me, the wife and the baby did the field first while it was cool, then did the museum last when it got hot.
I loved that ramcharger for sale! what a cool car. I didnt take alot of pics, just a few as most of those cars i see...
my piston is the fm350. I was told going with the eddy 75 cc heads i would be in the mid 9s for compression...exactly what you came up with.
Match that with a lunati 268/276 cam and new lifters.....should be a heck of a boost for that car!
thanks for your help! i really appreciate it!. Looks like i need to bump my compression with some 75CC edelbrock e street heads.
If you took that info you had, and used the edelbrock 75CC aluminum heads, that should put me "around" 9.5:1 compression correct?
i meant to say you pay to get into the show, and get a "free pass" to see all the museum. I go every year, this year i hope to find a classic ch4b intake at the swap area...but they always go fast
ok guys, for you engine builders. Im wondering if you can help me out to calculate my compression ratio of my 440
I will list all the specs that i know of my motor, hopefully you guys can chime in and see. I just came from a engine shop, I gave him this exact info, and he came up with something...
Thought about it, but then im paying 2 times for a tune. Really dont want to. Heads are 1100 dollars for the pair, cam is another 200-22
yes i had a eddy 600 cfm carb on before this, it was nice, but the car literally was choked out at 3500 rpm or so, you could feel the car fall on its face...
EDIT, i spoke again with the guy that was going to dyno tune my car. He said if im thinking about adding a new cam and aluminum heads, just to wait on the tune. Everything will get thrown off by the heads and cam.
So as of right now its postponed. Im thinking off adding the aluminum heads to...
I agree. Im not one of those guys who needs 400+ to the wheels. Yes, that would be alot of fun, but at some point you will start to break things....and that gets costly. At 29 years old, married for almost 5 years, baby on the way....last thing i want is to keep fixing things
Im hoping that a...
well my goal down the road is eddy 75cc heads, lunati 268/276 cam, better intake and headers. But its a tight budget. Right now i just want to get the most out of what i have with better driveability. Slowly add go fast parts as money allows.
I would be stunned, flat out shocked it was over 300 to the wheels. It does run good, but its a low compression 440.
If it makes 350/450 after its tuned i would be shocked
bringing my charger away friday to have it dyno tuned on saturday morning. Curious what you guys think it will do
Its a 440 (69 block) its got 906 heads that have been cleaned up, new valves (stock size) stock crank...its bored 30 over but has a compression ratio of about 8.7:1 with a elgin cam...
