There's a chance that the filter that's on the tank end of the fuel line(filter sock) is clogged, especially if it hasn't been replaced before. The weak fuel pump would have a hard time sucking the gas through it.

I've ran the TM-7 on a 68 Roadrunner with the stock air cleaner and on a 63 Dodge with no problems, they really aren't as tall as you think.

The bolt pattern for a big block transmission is different from a 318 poly, a small block trans should be used.

Those cars didn't have big radiators, that is how they came from the factory. They had the same 2 row radiator as a 383 or 361, nothing special.
