So against my better recommendations my uncle ordered and installed Hooker headers and low and behold they are leaking...
Check out the picture below, notice the holes below the exhaust ports on the stock manifolds? I'm guessing that has something to do with emission stuff. The new headers do...
ITS ALIVE!!!!!
ITS ALIVE!!!!!
Outside, blown off and ready to run!
One of my uncles employees called me paranoid for having the fire extinguisher sitting there at the ready. Told him it was better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it!
Especially since the first one I...
Good progress this weekend.... may have had it running if not for the wrong plug wires..... went with MSD Ignition, Distributor, and Coil Pack and the NAPA Wires that my uncle already had were a no go...
Coil pack, brainbox and distributor installed! Lots of "unused" connections now to figure...
Well.....
Solved one problem just to discover another!
Figured out the bracket problem... AC unit with bracket goes BEHIND the alternator bracket....
Now discovering that the mount for the thermostat is in a different location on the new intake.... mounting bolt for AC is now in the...
All right y'all, here is the update from the weekend. Slow process of putting the puzzle back together after 4 months (see my thread looking for a schematic of the front bracket mounting). But here we are. Lots of time taken to clean up and paint miscellaneous fittings, brackets, etc so it is...
Hey all,
I'm wondering if anyone has a Mopar book that would have the schematic for a 1979 Chrysler Cordoba for the brackets that go on the front of the motor for the power steering, alternator, and AC pump. Putting them back how I took them off the old motor but CRS must be catching up with me...
Today's update!
Base-coat Orange and Sealer on the water pump and intake.
Top view of the paint job. Ready for clear coat.
The engine with my son in the backround.... he wants to know when he gets to go for a ride in the Cordoba! :-P
High lift cam, cant remember the specs...
Went through heads new valves, guides, lifters etc. No porting or anything like that. Headers and dual exhaust to go.
360 taken 30 over for now some day when I own it aluminum ported heads and maybe turn it into a stroker.... already had some conversations with the guy that built it! :D
Picked up the engine from the builder last night!!!!
On the engine lift to get it off the engine stand. He primed it already with 3 qts of Amsoil break-in oil....
Started taping it off to get ready for paint! Block will be Hemi Orange. After getting the block painted we'll pull the paper...
Update.... Fired the guy who was supposed to be working on he engine, got tired of a different excuse each week. Went to pick it up and it was still in pieces! So much for being ready to paint. There is an off chance the new guy will have it done by the end of this week!
Sadly not much progress to report for right now... Still trying to run down inner fenders. Found some in Alabama they wanted $300 a piece, another set in Arizona for $150 a piece. My uncle still thinks he wants to find them cheaper, his car his rules so I keep hunting.
Do those prices sound...
I remember reading about the ability to put a Hemi in these when I was in college... my fear was twisting the frame since it is a T-top... ladders would have helped with that but I'm trying to keep it as "originalish" as possible!
Thanks for the compliment, I'm really diggin doing this!
I'll post this in the appropriate places as well but if anyone has a line on places where I can find either new (feel free to laugh) or good used inner fender liners it would be much appreciated. Want to look at the cost of buy versus fix...
Here we go, frame and parts primed and painted today!
Just starting the etch primer.

Black primer done.
Working on the black basecoat.
