Hughes engines makes a keyed fuel pump eccentric to place at the end of a magnum roller cam. and Hughes engines can duel drill the heads to fit the LA intakes.
My swap turned out great, my engine was a 1995 5.9 magnum, and I used the mating A518 overdrive transmission. At first I used the OBD I pcm, with a small cam. Then one of my freeze plugs started leaking, so I pulled the engine/trans. Then the upgrades really began. I will post some video shortly.
I vote for 5.9 magnum, I magnum swapped my car years ago. If your interested I have videos you could review to see what the swap can be, mine went from very mild to somewhat trick with the aftermarket efi.
Thought I would post some updates to the Ram runner project, going back through the old threads, seems like a life time ago. Many things have changed, like the 5.9 magnum is now running aftermarket efi from FAST, and the intake is a 4 bbl Mopar M1, has headers from Jegs, a fast ratio pitman arm...
I had the Action Plus on my 400, But it had 3.23 gears and work great, but I would not put it on any engine with low gears, as it will quickly be out of it power band. I later put the Torqer II with 3.55 gears, which paired better.
Or if you think one day you want more stopping power you could upgrade:
