My pick? The Comp, but that's personal opinion. What's your max desired operating RPM?
You'll need to pick your preference based on your driving style/use. If you want to squeeze the loud pedal once in awhile, the Comp would be more fun. Lots of stop and go traffic, carload of...
I would think your machine shop would do the choosing on something like this? Your oil pressure may vary depending on what the bearing clearances are and oil weight to be used. Will you be using internal or external oiling?
For OEM quality pumps, Melling sells their model M-63HV for high...
Cool conversion. I'll always like Mopar stuff, but the Mopar tax has always been high. Chevy stuff is much more plentiful and well supported in the aftermarket. Sounds like a great combination for a performance cruiser!
Been there before too. Panicked when I simultaneously lost oil pressure and my car stalled on a hot day.
Took me 4 tries. Parts store unit failed immediately, 2 miscellaneous used ones, and another parts store retry. I think my latest one was made in Mexico or Brazil? I'm not sure of the...
Just discovered and read this whole thread including the startup video. Awesome! You took your time, worked carefully, did your research, and cut no corners. I hope it yields awesome results for a long time!
Haven't tried buying refills and trying them yet on my stuff. Anco seems to have a vintage line (with frames), and Trico used to have a "classic," labeled product (also with frames) that looked lower profile and would fit our applications.
I thought someone used to sell silicone wiper refills...
This is a tough one to figure out. Wouldn't hurt to double check and measure as others have stated...But it sounds like you were thorough and covered most things.
According to Comp's site, all the specifications between small/big block hydraulic roller lifters are identical in measurements...
Good to hear your stuff should be on the way. Never purchased from them before, but there's so few smaller companies that still support our Mopars...I'd like them to survive and keep a good reputation.
I have a Dynomax Ultra Flo that's missing about 3/4 of the packing from a daily driver.
However, for that much material to come out at once might say one of the chambers or perforated tubes may have split? Any hard backfires lately? Just thinking out loud.
The inside of the center chamber I...
I see this stuff a lot and I don't know what to think of it.
The hot-roddy stuff I've read/heard with Comp is a mixed bag among Mopars, Fords, and Chevies. Hydraulic rollers collapsing, flat tappets mulching themselves, bad rockers. Then I hear/see engine builders blaming customers, customers...
Mine always shook/slid off when my car was running. A simple pinch with a pair of pliers cured it, just had to squeeze it enough to get an interference fit.
Curious about this myself. Are these areas better reinforced on aftermarket blocks, or is it because of it's design that it might not be able to handle it?
Modern cars make pretty big power on regular motor mounts. But those also have a chassis engineered to match (e.g. Hellcat Redeye cars).
The bottom one looks to be the Hoosier Pro Street series tire. They make huge sizes with great water evacuation grooves, but I believe they are a harder compound tire and won't get the same traction a drag radial or the bias-ply Mickey Thompson Sportsman pictured on the other two.
Have you considered an M&H drag radial? I'm attempting a higher power street build, and I'm looking for very similar requirements you're looking for. I figured if I got caught in the rain, they still have some tread pattern.
I plan on building mine around a 390/45/15, but they have a...
Just a warning, heater cores labeled with A/C or without A/C are different and do not interchange! There was a time when only one style of replacement was available. Learned this the hard way!
Came here just to praise everyone who has done these frame rail replacements. I've never done one, but I've done enough work to appreciate the folks that do. I respect it and love to see people keeping these things from a crusher.
I tried spraying the Top Coat from a spray gun once. I think the instructions only recommended you thin it a tiny amount (5% or something along those lines - I don't remember). Wouldn't even come out of the gun until I thinned it about 30%. It was kind of a gamble to experiment like...
