I have a 71 satellite and have been chasing a knock / rattle coming from the front. For a while I was convinced it was the front end. But everything has been replaced - the front end is tight.
The back if the bonnet (hood) seems to move around a bit and this is when the noise occurs. When the...
I see that some cam bolts sold offer 2-1/4 degree camber / caster adjustment.
Do they actually increase the range of adjustment available for camber and caster? Are they worth the trouble? Or just stick with the originals?
I purchased new lower control arm shafts as I am chasing a knock in the front end. The fit of the shafts in the new LCA bushes (rubber), when I did it 18 months ago, was not an interference fit anymore. So I have decided to invest in new shafts. and bushes again.
Have gone to do the job, and...
Anyone have a photo(s) of '71 back frame and springs. Mine are very soft, my kids make the seat bottom. Was hoping to understand what the arrangement looks like. Is it just the zig zag springs? Are there meant to be coils also? Is there a "spring" that ties the zig zags together? Thanks in...
I have a 360 Magnum in my 71 Satellite Sebring. It currently has headers on it (not sure what type, but looking at web pictures definitely not TTI or Doug's, look more like Flowtech, Patriot, or Hooker).
Found today that the pitman arm is hitting one of the tubes on full lock.
Also, despite the...
Looking at re-pinning the door hinges on my 71. The lower hinges on mine have the "S" shaped spring - in other words look more like a '70 B body or E Body. Were they interchangeable? Does anyone have any idea what gives here?
The top hinges look to be correct when comparing photos on the web...
I'm considering my options with the power steering box. The input shaft has 2-3mm of axial play in it when the engine is not running. When the engine is running the play disappears, and input shaft turns seem to have no slop to the pitman arm. Is it normal to have this axial play in the steering...
Looking to change bearings in my alternator in the not too far future. It appears to be original style alternator for a '71 B Body. Does anyone know what the bearing part numbers are before I pull it apart. Not being in the US I like to check availability of local spares before I start a job.
I believe the upper control arms (UCA's) on B Body's changed in 1973. What are the differences between the pre '73 and '73 onwards UCA's.
Does anyone have any photos? Are there any measurements that give the game away - bush length, diameter, ball joint size?
The reason for asking is my '71...
When a modern rotary style Sanden type compressor is used they come with a pulley for 13A width belts, whereas, the originals were 11A (sorry for the metric sizes over here in Aus - 11A I think is 7/16”, 13A is 1/2”). How have people got around this, with alternator and crankshaft pulleys still...
This one is starting to drive me crazy.
With the ignition off (car not running) the parking / tail lights work without blowing the cigarette lighter fuse (which is the feed to headlight switch B2). The car can sit for over half an hour with no issue.
However, with the car running the fuse blows...
Has anyone used the new reproduction Bendix booster and master cylinder (with the firewall plate and pedal linkage) for 1971 B body?
Does it fit well?
If the firewall plate supplied is used are any firewall mods required?
Does the pedal linkage fit up properly without mods?
My current set-up...
I have a 71 Satellite with Power Front Disc Conversion, using a general purpose 8" dual diaphragm booster.
The brake system has been fully rebuilt - new rear wheel cylinders, front calipers overhauled, new hoses all round, new master cylinder, and new booster. The booster pushrod to master...
