Some had different size slip splines on the 83/4 rear end which used different size universal joints. The slip splines between the sizes interchange. One problem the nut that holds the slip spline is TIGHT.
I would go as 69 ROADRUNNER suggested "Where the motor likes it best", the way to do this is at about 600 RPM idel adjsut the timming to where the engine idels the freeest.
Then take the car for a drive if the motor pings under accerlation set the timming back a couple degrees, if the...
You need a 402 oil pan #2532401.
You will need a pick-up tube for the 402 oil pan.
I would suggest you install a windage tray, good for about 15 horsepower.
You can use the stock intake and carb and no problems.
The motor is a direct interchange.
The motor you...
Most all 383's had 5 qt oil pans. Some 440's had 6 qt oil pans.
This in some cases can and will cause and issue if the oil pan is from I think a Truck and maybe a later model Chrysler or Imperial
But in your case I don't think you will have a problem, it is not at all a common...
If you look on the distribtor boss where 440 is stamped you will see some numbers stamped there that will tell you if anything that was not standard on the block from the factory. I.E. undersize/oversize.
Its intresting you brought this up on the many different speedometer ratio's.
Years ago in the seventies Chrysler listed the grear ratio's in the dealer book as 3:21/3:23 and 2:71/2:73 on some of the B bodies, the final ratio would depend on the tire size ordered I would guess. But I...
A383wing,
I think the difference between the intakes beside casting numbers are:
68-69 Used Carter carbs.
70-71 Used Holley carbs.
So the carb mounting hole spaceing are spaced different.
If I'm wrong on this someone correct me.
Since you said you wern't going to spend much more money, which I can understand.
Sometimes small things can get overlooked.
Check and see if your engine has a windage tray installed, it should but could have been overlooked.
A windage tray in the oil pan is usually good...
It sounds to me as though you may have a voltage regulator, alt. problem.
But do check the fuses as listed in the above post. If that dosen't work go to the voltage regulator, alt.
This problem can also occur if the wrong blub is used in the interior, single prong bulb where a 2...
Direct Connection reccomends:
* Quote: The best raceing single four barrel manifold for the 340-360 is the Edelbrock LD-340 PN P3549884. Unquote*

I have a couple of N.O.S. Hemi Fender emblems still in the Chry Packing don't recall if the trunk emblem is the same or not.
BTW you car looks great, are you going with with P.Steering later?
I agree, if nothing else it shows well in the pictures. Those are nice cars to drive, if it has power brakes their a little touchy or at least takes getting use to.
I have a six way manual bucket seat track for either a "B" body or an "E" body.
Does anyone know how to tell the difference between the two. I think the "B" body is higher than the "E" body but I don't know the height of either and can find no reference that tells me anything.
I...
I have to agree with you on the 32 Ford, this is more than likely where it all started. These cars have a following.
Next in line was the 40 Ford Coupe followed by the 49-50 Mercury which were lowered and chopped and they were soon turned into "Rat Rods".
Rat Rods: A mixture of...
A Roadrunner is a Roadrunner when it is at least 70% original or has factory replacement parts.
We live in a world of CLONE cars now! It started with the 65 Mustang and the 69 Camaro. By the way I have seen more 69 Z-28 Camaros than they made due to cloneing.
I had much...
