I buy 2 barrels full every time I go over, as thats all the law allows you to transport. I don't really drive the car that much, and I'm sure I will need to make another trip to get through the summer. It's a pretty good hit to the wallet just to putt around in an old car.
You do get less mileage, 25-30% less. It really doesn't like to detonate, and it makes for very cold intake charges due to the alcohol. My friend made 1,300 HP on a non intercooled single turbo car, so I set my first turbo car up the same way. I like the stuff, just not the drive to get it...
I've got the opposite problem, I would love to have an E85 station near me, but there isn't a single one in my state. It's a 55 mile trip each way into the next state to get it.
Pretty sure Elgin grinds them. I have the larger of the 2 Summit cams in a 383, and the number comes back as an Elgin part #. I wouldn't be surprised if Elgin did all the PAW cams.
If it's an option, an A body width rear with big bolt pattern axles makes wheel fitment easier. I have a 67, and the guys are right, it's not the biggest wheel well around..
240* @ .050" lift, .540" valve lift, 114 CL. I've got a selection of gears, but being primarily a driver, I erred on the tall side. Maybe too tall lol. It had zero traction last year with 275 radials up to at least 60 Mph, so I couldn't really tell.
Nothing compared to your build, lol. It's a forged crank 400, Eagle rods, JE pistons at 10/1. Tall fill of Hard Block, studded and girdled bottom end. Bullet solid flat tappet cam, mildly worked Edelbrock heads, M1 intake wiith a dual needle and seat blow through carb, S475 Borg Warner single...
Excellent numbers! My build is still in the tuning stages, but I got to drive it a bit last summer. If I can make it to 15# this year and it seems happy, I'll dyno it. I expect it will make 750+ to the wheel easy enough, maybe a bit more.
Tim Goolsby at Bullet Cams. He's a holdover from Ultradyne, and knows his stuff. He spent a long time on the phone with me going over my combo. Most of the other companies just wanted my card number..
A friends first turbo car was a '70 Dart. Stock 5.7 Hemi, used 6.1 cam, Borg Warner S475 turbo, (cheap). First pass on 10# of boost with a blow through carburetor was 10.0 at 130+ mph.
He later did a 6.1, still single turbo, SRT Jeep exhaust manifolds, 21# of boost, still carbureted with no...
