Does your fuel tank have two vent lines like some of the OEM tanks (like 1969)? If so, one is short and one is long. My 1969 Roadrunner aftermarket tank had these reversed. The short one should vent through the long tube that routes through the trunk. The long one (that goes to the rear of...
The build sheet might be original. On my 69 Charger, I found one build sheet under the rear seat bottom that was for an earlier VIN Charger and found the correct one for my car behind the rear seat back. Both were green interior cars. The seat bottom one was beat up and had a lot of spring...
I have two 69 B-bodies and I always have to remove the front seats (buckets fortunately) so I can brace my back against the dash or A-pillar to use my foot to get the back seat to release. I've tried pry bars and 2x4's but nothing else works. Why Chrysler makes these seats lock in so hard is a...
The car is definitely trashed but......If it does not have to end up being your dream car, buying it (for as little as possible) may give you the pleasure of (1) owning a road runner (2) having the fun of digging through the car to see what can be salvaged and cleaned up and made useful (you...
I had a great paint and detail guy up in San Jose, CA. But since I moved to LA I have yet to find someone I can trust. In my experience, paint makes a car look good, but detailing makes it looks spectacular!
My older brother's first and only MOPAR, a 1968 Charger. We were raised as Chevy guys. He bought it in September 1968 after coming home from the Army. I got to drive the car one time. The guy in the blue shirt is one of my brother's buddies. Now I have a 69 Charger and a 69 Road Runner...
Of all the advise I've read, the best one is simply to confirm the gauge is reading correctly. Laser thermometers are cheap and the best way to start solving your problem.
I had a similar problem when I bought my 69 Roadrunner. It has flowmasters as well and sounded great at idle but droned crazy when driving. I was looking to replace the entire exhaust because an earlier"restoration" installed a custom 2 1/2 setup that fit like crap. But then I thought to try...
If you live near Long Beach, I would recommend Herb's Automotive. He specializes in 60's and 70's classic cars and has an impressive shop and can do almost any work. Like a lot of shops he is very booked up. I had them to do some work on my 69 Charger. They completed some rear suspension...
Not uncommon. In my 69 Charger, I found one build sheet in the back seat bottom that was not for my car and one in the back seat backrest that was. The only common thread between the two cars was that both had green interiors.
Best advise I can give is "stay away from proform parts" Had a small block chevy with proform rockers and the roller guide washers "sawed" into the rocker bodies. Found the mess before a disaster happened. Pic attached. Never again Proform!
I had a similar problem recently with a freshly rebuilt 4-speed muncie. I tried all sorts of adjustments. Nothing helped. Turns out my roller pilot bearing had failed so the input shaft did not fully release. Check your pilot bearing.
Congratulations. I too recently bought a Directlift DL9. Great to have. Two tips; The lock release handle is a bit short so I added about 6 inches to it with a threaded coupling and some threaded rod. Works much easier. 2nd tip: if you find yourself pulling on the lock release harder to...
I've installed two Comp Cams in the past couple years and they both looked like that. Lesson 1: don't apply assembly lube with your palm unless you like getting cut up. The casting roughness is a nuisance but if the roughness is not on the lifter contact surface, it will be okay. Of...
I would look at the ballast resistor if you are using it and bypass it since the Pertronix does not need it. Then I would check for a bent pushrod. I had a similar problem on a 69 383 and found a couple bent pushrods. Another approach would be to try a different (known good) carb. I have...
I know a good paint job takes time and I agree that many shops pull in more work than they can handle. For these reasons I do most of my own work including painting. My paint jobs are not show quality, some are great, some are just decent. But they get done and I know what happened to get to...
