I would love to know how the guys doing eBay "fast and free" are doing it. I recently bought bumpers for another project. The shipping was insane on most websites. $60 (ea) for handling, and $99 (ea) for shipping. That's $320 to ship two bumpers! I found the same bumpers for the same price on...
Good idea on picking the scrap piles at body shops, thanks. I've had to rebuild fender legs, ect on stuff that isn't available. I've always found something close enough at the junkyards.
This is the quarter on a 66 Belvedere. The pin holes are all isolated to the pinched area between the quarter and the outer wheel house/trunk extensions. On the 66/67's there's basically no room to work. The trunk extensions are really close to the quarter.
I think Sherman sells a lower quarter...
I of course know that the proper solution is to weld in patches, however this car isn't particularly valuable and I'll be running out of warm weather before I know it. There's obviously something going on behind the panel too.
I know a lot of guys would pave and spray, but I have no interest...
The product several of you mentioned is probably internal frame coating from Eastwood. I've used it on many internal structures, and was planning on using it in this situation too. Thanks
Thanks. This is the one area that's impossible to mask off so I was concerned with blow back. As you know wheel wells, jambing out, ect can bite you without proper prep.
Been screwing with cars my whole life and I have never used that crap. Not gonna start on this one. I just want to know how other guys are addressing this semi-enclosed area. Thanks
Well I just realized that I've never done a complete spray out on a car with a louvered cowl. What's the best method to clean this out? I'm figuring a combo of air and water, then internally coat it with frame coating. I can picture someone not doing this would get a rude surprise when they went...
Been going to the drive-ins in Warwick NY and Wellfleet Mass since I was a kid. Both are still operating and doing well. My father went to them his whole life and brought me as a kid. Now it's 2020 and my kids go to the same drive-ins. It would be great if they could bring their kids someday.
My current rate to fix a mangled, botched, buggered up 66 fender is $5k USD. Lol. Just kidding. If you can't find a suitable replacement let me know. I can probably fix yours or guide you through. I walked the long road to be able to do this stuff. Mostly potholes and dirt on that road(but I...
Ok....I win!!! I've never worked so hard to save a panel in my life. In total I sectioned 2 pieces, welded the trim holes, chased crap, busted out the stud gun, used every hammer and dolly I own, had the torch and grinder on speed dial, and broke all the rules. It now is a 66 fender....even to...
