Also only dies if I put it in gear or if I turn the headlights on the motor dies almost immediately, has new alternator too, maybe the wiring is in need of replacing? Too much resistance in the charging circuit?
Alright guys, I've got a 1967 dodge coronet stock 318 2 barrel carb with electronic ignition. After driving for an hour or two and coming to an idle the engine will start to misfire very bad and cut off completely. Turn the key and starts right back up and runs fine for a minute or two and...
It started happening once I replaced the old vac advance canister that was leaking with a new one since the other one was capped off I wanted to run vac advance for the optimal performance and efficiency
I've been setting my timing up various ways nothing seems to work out. If I retard the timing the engine doesn't ping and it has good acceleration but stumbles and misses at part throttle if I advance the timing even just the tiniest amount it gets rid of the stumble but misses with the vac...
Hello all, I'm back again with another problem. Ive got a bone stock 1967 273 2 barrel engine with a single points distributor With my vac advance hooked up my engine stumbles all the way up until I give it a good amount of gas then it runs like a raped ape.
If I unhook my vac advance the...
Just another update I was curious as to why i had the misfire, I ended up having a faulty distributor pickup, mancini sent me a new one and the car runs fine now. Just letting you know what happened. Tried a good ecu, no change. Tried a different coil no difference. No voltage drops at battery...
I switched the msd coil simply because my original one was leaking oil out the top of the tower. I had the wires laying around I was just trying to use my inventory up if I had to buy wires I would have went with the stock wires but I decided to use what I had as to save money. Thank you for...
Thank you for the response, that is good info to know I've been going in the wrong direction it seems my original distributor was a single points distributor. Can I use my msd blaster coil with my points distributor or should I use the stock one. I don't want to fry anything lol.
Is there really any benefit to electronic over points ignition? I was told by a buddy it helped with fuel mileage and throttle response but now it just runs like a turd lol im thinking I made a mistake, luckily I have my points distributor readily available for reinstallation
Perhaps I should reinstall the points distributor and sell the electronic ignition I just wanted to get away from the points, looks like I got bit in the end. Thank you for that quote, it made me remember why i always say "they don't build them like they used to".
Hello all, I recently converted my points ignition to electronic and I've developed a misfire where as the points didn't miss at all I've replaced plugs wires cap rotor ballast resistor, I'm just wondering what I should test next, maybe I have a bad ecu box? I'm scratching my head on this one...
The circuit board is brand new from classic industries! It's very clean all dash lights work including turn signal indicators high beam gauge oil light brake light and ammeter
