The A518 fits into Magnum with out any floor mods.
Need to modify the transmission mount cross member and the
torsion bar cross member for more clearance at tail shaft.
The next tricky part is going to be modifying the floor shifter
linkage, need to move linkage over by about 3/4 inch to
clear...
I have a 1979 Magnum GT with 5 leaf set up.
I ended up ordering urethane biscuits for a Aspen with
5 leafs (same thickness just about a 1/2 inch shorter in length)
Auto Rust Technicians sell U brackets but do not list for B body.
I e-mailed them for dimensions but never got a reply.
Good luck...
Working on doing the exact same Magnum swap.
Using the factory EFI and A518 OD.
Did you fit the over drive into the car?
From what I see on our cars the OD is past the
torsion bar cross member, only the rear trans mount
would need to be fabricated.
Please update your progress. Thanks
UPDATE
COULD NOT FIND ANY INFO SO I ENDED UP ORDERING
ENERGY SUSPENSION KIT 5.6106G FOR DODGE ASPEN.
RECEIVED PARTS LOOKS LIKE THE ONLY DIFFERENCE
IS THEY ARE ABOUT A 1/2 INCH SHORTER THEN METAL BRACKETS.
JUST TO LOOK GOOD I WILL CUT THE BRACKET DOWN ON
EACH END BY 1/4 INCH.
HOPE THIS INFO HELPS...
I watched your video, excellent resto of the Cordoba
Your carI think had 4 leaf springs, mine has 5
Do you think the insulators are the same but the metal U
bracket is larger for the extra leaf.
I seen a web site Rust Technologys which list two sizes of
metal U brackets but do not have any...
Looking for a supplier for leaf spring insulators for 1979 Dodge Magnum.
My car has 5 leaf springs.
Listing seem to be for years up to 1976 then jump to 1980.
Any help would be appreciated.
UPDATE:
Received new shackles for Cordoba, but they are not the same as Magnum.
The new shackles are about 3/4 inch shorter in length then
the Magnum.
Should work, just a little lower, I had the springs redone so
ride height should be fairly close.
Thanks Again
Does anyone have part numbers for these shackles?
Seems to be no info around.
Listing show part numbers for 1979 Chrysler Cordoba but no Dodge Magnum.
Are the shackles different?
Thanks for any help.
I have the A518 already and my friend is a trans re builder
is doing the work only for cost of parts. We emptied the case
so will try to fit into car first to see how much modification
is required. I will bring up the A500 to him and ask his opinion.
Thanks for your input.
I seen a lot of pics from older B bodies,
do not know if things changed when
the car was redone from 1975 to 79.
Not much info about these years.
Would the cross member be the same?
I seen on one site that they sell a
cross member for A518 for older
B bodies.
Thanks for you input.
Thanks For the link
I am looking at the EFI more for
convenience of being able to get
in car after sitting for months and
have it run consistent. As for the
wiring I did my friends 65 Comet
with a 5l out of a 88 Crown Vic
and it worked out.
Thanks again
I am doing a magnum swap with
with factory EFI so the computer will
handle the OD and lockup. We have
emptied the A518 to use only the
case to do the change fabrication work.Plan is to use 373 gears.
Thanks for your reply
