Thanks Boys -
you boys were on the right track - black fouled plugs. Happy Holidays - nice when the forum works so well.
I did not think fouled plugs would keep it from starting, I thought, if that was a problem, it would just run
rough - you'all were right, really appreciate it.
Trip 66'...
Car has been sitting for 3-4 months. Has Mopar electrictronic ignition. 10.3 to 1 compression, Demon 850 carb, Mopar 557/296 cam - 440CI - has always run rich - plugs are fouled, very black, slightly wet, I have: tested fuel to carb, poured fresh gas
directly into carb, tried nasty instant...
It does not start, but after some cranking will make a little sputter, then nothing. I checked coil its ok. What are the symptoms of a bad ballast resister?
ALSO can you boys suggest a spark plug - it has Autolite AR23 Racing plugs in it, that are nasty fouled looking?
440CI, Mopar 557/296...
I tried pouring some fresh Snoco 93 into carb - makes a little sputter after 10 seconds of cranking, but quickly dies. I pulled
a plug - they are Autolite ARC123 Racing - it is a very recent plug, it is black, wit black deposits on it - but gap was
still present. This car is never raced, just...
My 440CI with electronic ignition won't start, gas is about 3 months old, gas is getting to
Demon carb - already disconnected fuel line to test, Demon side floats look fine -
about 1/2 way, tried pouring some gas directly into carb, about 5 times, got one huge
backfire, tries to catch, but...
I just listed a mint neon Dodge Plymouth 6 foot sign on Ebay - you can see it under "Dodge Plymouth Neon" if
you would like to check it out. It is not old, maybe 20 years old. - but way cool. Great for restoration shop if you
know of someone. Mopar boys can call me if interested - thanks Trip...
YES - small squirts of gas - NOT long squirts - and Hemi cars worked off the rear carb, until you punch it - the front carb does no work at starting - if the accelerator linkage needs adjusting to get a long sustained "pump" - how do I do that?
no, it does not have a gauge, but has new Holly...
Understood = thanks very much, Dick Katter lives not too far, in Manassas, Virginia,
maybe he will help, the
dissers, don't know jack - they just like to see the massive Hemi air-cleaner.
Explanation of fuel pressure issue
really appreciate the help here - I have a 66 Hemi Satellite, it ran fine with the single Demon the previous owner had on it, but I was getting dissed for not having the 2 4's on it - so I did, both correct Carters and stock intake were installed - would only...
when installing an electric fuel pump - do you bypass the meachanical?
if it is mounted near the trunk - can it run into the stock mechanical, or
does that defeat the whole idea of incresing fuel pressure to the carb?
OR - does the pressure continue through the mechanical to a greater...
Disc stuck - still
No, both ideas did not work - any other thoughts, short of pulling the
transmission. ALSO, if the car is driven with the disc stuck to the
flywheel what happens?
I think my disc is stuck to flywheel - clutch will not let out, this is a Hemi
4 speed - 1966, I have removed cover plate, bolts to pressure plate are
on extremely tight, and could break off, is there any trick, besides banging
on a srewdriver to pry them apart? I am this has happened to...
thanks for the advice - I am in process of mounting - evidently I am not the only one
who has had this problem....will put switch as dash. I hope this works -
appreciate it
Trip (66 Hemi real deal Satellite, 66 Coronet)
ok - the latest plan to help my 66 Hemi Satellite start - is to install an electric fuel pump - theory being the re-built Carters don't hold much fuel
and it evapoates quickly - so it will not start without a shot of gas poured
in - (already tried new fuel pump, even tried relacing the push...
ok - changed out 3rd member - got my correct dark green speedometer gear -put in trans - nothing....not registering, whats the trick? I do not
think it has stripped it, yet. That thing that holds it in, is lopsided, with
numbers around it....for a 3.23 where should it be turned - I put it at...
if northern car you could be getting a rust bucket, and all restorers will tell you, once you get into it, one thing leads to another - if a rust bucket, let someone else do it -
