The car currently has 3.91's in it and I hate 'em. My old Satellite had 3.55's and I wasn't wild about those either. I want to be able to drive it on the highway. I guess if I have to back off on cam, I will.
No, it's only been rough bored. It's a 4 speed car so no converter. I'm wanting to run 3.23's. Headers and Flowmasters for exhaust. I want a fairly aggressive sounding cam. It's not a drag car so I guess I really don't have any preference on RPM ranges. I just want it to be fun when I want to...
The 426 was just a block when I bought it. I had to install one sleeve due to a cylinder that was a bit out of whack. The cylinders were already at .040" over and needed to go again so it's currently at .060" until I decide what I'm doing for pistons. My Satellite currently has a running but...
That's exactly what I plan to do with it. Some weekends, car shows, etc but then I will get squirrelly every once in a while and want to run it through the gears. It will never see the strip or anything like that.
Well, like I said, I'm already at .060" over so I'm stuck between an $800 set of .060" over 426 pistons or go another .010" and go with a $300 set of stock 440 pistons.
Between purchasing a second business and renovating the house, progress has been a bit slow. I sent the grill and the headlight surrounds to Special T's Unlimited and had them restored. They were pretty nice but not show quality by any stretch. They stripped them, removed all scrapes and dings...
I'm building a 426 Wedge for my '65 Satellite. The block was at .040" over and needed to go again. So we're currently at .060" over and I'm now needing to find some pistons. I have two questions:
1) Does anybody know where I can find a set of .060" over 426 Wedge pistons?
2) Should I just take...
Beer it is! I definitely will! We have been family friends with Rick and Colleen for a long time! I'll shoot you a message when we go next. Would love to check out your car!
Love this build! Probably one of the coolest I've seen for a long time!
You say you're from Prineville, do you know Rick Becerra? He's going to be doing a lot of work to my 426 SW '65 Satellite here in about a year or two.
I see that it's missing it's wheel lip moldings (have fun finding those) and a 426 car should have the "Commando" fender badge which this one does not. It should also have 11" drum brakes and a sway bar upfront. A pic of the fender tag will help get down to the brass tacks. I have a 426 SW '65...
