    1973 charger column too long?

Just wanted to reach out and say thanks to everyone again. Yy1 was correct the column had a 1974 charger end on it it and the steering box side had a 1973 set up. Luckily I was able to swap the 1973 end onto the 74 column and got it attached. Floor pans came in the this weekend so I’ll be...

    73 charger power brake booster

That’s what I thought. I plan to pull the dash back out today I might have better access to it to try and dislodge. Would be just as good to find a similar size bolt without threads that go all the up to the head and use that instead? I don’t see how that could hurt it, but always good to ask...

    73 charger power brake booster

Hey guys, was going to toss in my power brake booster during my lunch break today but I’ve got to remove two bolts before that happens. But something caught my eye. I took a pic so y’all can see what I’m looking at. Is the pivot point that’s undone from the brake hanger supposed to be raked over...

    1973 charger column too long?

Oh ok I’m following now haha. I might just be better off swapping the upper column parts onto the 73 column making it column shift column, which I’m cool with. I’d probably have to move the column shift lever at the bottom of the column as well. Or I could pull the firewall plate off the 73...

    1973 charger column too long?

Oh cool man. Yeah not wanting to keep the floor mount. I bought the column to swap the floor mount stuff on the top of the column to my 71 charger. I’m definitely not going for originality on this car, just want it functional so I can drive it haha. Think I can swap the 73 stuff over to the 74...

    1973 charger column too long?

That might be the issue. The parts look to be in correct order but that shaft coming out of the box I think is what’s messing me up. I think if I swap out the bottom of this shaft (assuming I can do that) it might work out. This is one I pulled from a 73 charger but the floor shifter parts were...

    1973 charger column too long?

Ok so update. I don’t think it’s the pins. Just took a closer pic of the column and I know I can’t get the difference from the shaft going in further in, the column looks good to me. So I’m thinking either the column is a manual column or the shaft coming from the steering box is too long...

    1973 charger column too long?

Ah ok. Inside the column shaft possibly. I’ll look at that tomorrow and see if that’s going on. Thanks for the feedback on that.

    1973 charger column too long?

Hey guys. Just got my 73 charger home last night been working on it all day. Went to install the column and there is no way it’s going to fit. I think the shaft coming out of the steering box might be the problem. I’ve attached pics but the column it’s around 3-5 inches too far out when the end...

    Slap stick bolt size?

Hey guys, I’ve searched and googled and can’t seem to find my answer (unless I’m just using the right keywords). But does anyone know what size/measurement bolts I would use to bolt down the slap stick sifter to the bracket? Looks to be a fine thread but every bolt I own does not fit haha...

    Trunk gutters

Thankfully it looks like the gutter is good. The Dutchman I’m getting has the upper gutter so I’ll replace all of that. Whoever had the car before me tried to put body filler in the rusted gap between the quarter and driver gutter, looks like the gutter is good but quarter is shot and Dutchman...

    Trunk gutters

Hey guys. Looking at the Dutchman panel and trunk gutters on my 71 charger. I’d like to replace the Dutchman when I go to replace the quarters but my driver side gutter is looking rough. It looks like the prior owner tried to pack body filler in where the quarter and trunk gutter meet. The...

    Floor replacement bracing

Yes, engine is out and no transmission ( didn’t come with one). I do have the trans crossmember attached to help keep things squared up. Also still have the rear in it.

    Floor replacement bracing

Haha yeah that wouldn’t be good at all. I’m about halfway through your post you sent me. Great work! Thanks for sending this link, a lot of good info in there.

    Floor replacement bracing

Thanks for the input. I’m working outside as my shop won’t be finished until sometime toward the end of this coming year. But I can get some boards and lay on the ground and put the car on stands to be safe. I only plan on doing the front and rear floor pans right now. I was originally going to...

    Floor replacement bracing

Makes sense. Not like the aftermarket panels fit perfectly ever haha. I appreciate the feedback and that link, I’ll go ahead and start reading through it.

    Floor replacement bracing

Ok cool stuff! The only thing that’s making me nervous is the torsion bar cross member is rotted almost all the way through about 4 inches from the passenger side rocker. I’m going to replace that when the floors come out as well. Outside of that the structures look good.
