I just put 17743 Dynomax Super Turbo mufflers on my 66 Belvedere I wagon with a .60 over 383 with a Keisler Tremec TKO-600. Just doing a walk around to hear what they sound like at idle, I'm satisfied so far. I don't think they're too loud, and to my ears they have a nice sound.
Closing as per the local ABC News station report on July 19, 2023. See for yourselves here: Atco Dragway announces permanent closure after 63 years in South Jersey
To be honest, I was only repeating what I've been told as I'm in the process of swapping out a slant 6, 3-spd with a 10.5" set-up. I should have been clearer about that before offering my 2 cents.
No, you need an 11" along with the flywheel & clutch ***'y. From what I've seen and been told, the 11" bell housings are cast iron and the 10.5" bell housings are cast aluminum. a quick visual way to identify size.
Wow, quite a varied response which is good for discussion, however, I've rebuilt a lot of Holley's in the past 45 years. I was shown 'hands-on' by some of the best back in the day, and there were a few things that they all seemed to express as vital to a great rebuild, not just a good rebuild...
I'm right there with you about not knowing much about transmissions. I'm in the process of mating a TKO-600 5-speed to a 383, but prior to that I acquired the correct A833 4-speed trans, bell housing, flywheel, etc., and the bell housing & flywheel were both for an 11" clutch. Again, I can not...
I do not, but there was a junkyard I was dealing with years ago in CA that had a couple of these wagons. I can not remember the name, but they were shipping different items I was in need of at the time. Doing a quick Google search doesn't help me with remembering their name either. I will...
As I mentioned in a previous response, I have no background info of this car other than what you see is what I bought. I really had no intention of acquiring another car at the time, but for the price, well? That goes without saying.
I might have a few, but no guarantees. I purchased an extra set quite a few years ago since I too have a 66 Belvedere wagon. Not sure how soon I'll be able to get back to you about them, but at least the conversation is started.
Here's a couple of interior pics. It needs a good cleaning in & out. It's been sitting in limbo since 2012, stashed away in the garage. And a couple pics of the 383 that will soon be installed with A TKO-600 5-speed.
I bought this wagon back in 1997 after finding it in the local Penny Pincher magazine for the ridiculous price of $300.00. It's a slant six, 3 on-the-tree, and was showing just 22k miles. It did not run, needed some filing of the points, after which some coxing by pouring gas in the carb, got it...
Thanks for letting me join your group. Looking forward to seeing what's happening in the B-body family. My current, but 20 year old project is a 66 Belvedere I wagon.
