I cannot find any raised pads or stamped numbers on the lower part of the block. My 69 RR is supposed to be numbers matching. The only stamped numbers I find are the ones on the pad near distributor. See attached. Surely there is a vin somewhere on the block?
Have 69 RR with 383 magnum (original). Found numbers stamped on pad near distributor. Also found casting numbers on both sides of lower block. Are there other "stamped" numbers that identify this engine?
Has anyone bought and/or used one of these to inspect the inside of engine cylinder heads to look for carbon buildup? Can you really "tell" anything? I would like to avoid removing the heads of a 383 if possible. The engine sometimes "diesels" for a few seconds when shut off.
What do you guys use to remove the sticky adhesive that remains on the window frame after the thicker stuff is scraped off? I tried mineral spirits with little success. Acetone would not touch it. Comments please.
I need to pull the glass, do some patching of lower window frame corners, and replace it.
I know "butyl tape" is used between the glass and body. Is any adhesive used? Or does the tape have adhesive in/on it? Should the tape be heated to insure a good seal? All comments and pointers welcomed.
I have several sets of hood hinges for both A and B Bodies in my shop. Are there numbers stamped somewhere that tell what they were originally installed on?
