    A/C compressor for 77 Cordoba

I went with RockAuto and got it all installed today. Working fine, quiet, cold so far so good. I did take a look at the other vendor recommended and they look good. It appears they rebuild compressors as well. I have noticed there are two kinds of compressors. A V twin that looks like a...

    A/C compressor for 77 Cordoba

We just replaced the A/C compressor on my 1977 Cordoba it worked fine but now it has got an oil leak. Local parts houses don't have any replacements. What's a good source for a reman? I see them on eBay and also Rock Auto but am a bit concerned about those sources. Any recommendations? TIA

    Pop goes the muffler

Not at all. 10 degrees BTDC is about factory spec for most engines of that period. Make sure the vacuum advance is removed from the distributor and plugged...a golf tee is great for that. If the car is hard starting then it's possibly advanced too much, back off a few degrees.

    Pop goes the muffler

I agree. That seems a bit retarded which would be throwing unburned fuel mixture into the exhaust system. That would cause a back fire, kind of like turning off the ignition while cruising and then turning it back on. You can blow the heck out of a muffler that way...do you hear the voice of...

Speedo gear, cable, and cruise control

I have a 77 Cordoba and just had both of the speedo drive cables replaced. The old ones were making all kinds of noise. We got new cables from O'Reilly's but Advance had them too. I work for a car dealership so one of the techs put them in for me. Short one from the cruise control module and...

    Distributor INstall Questions

When you turn the distributor, the idle will increase, speed up some if you are advancing the timing and slow down if you retard it. Retarded timing makes the engine work harder to achieve the same power level that a properly tuned engine can do. Also when the spark comes late (retarded) the...

    front marker lights

Check the connectors looking for corrosion or maybe a loose fit. My Chevy pickup's rear modular lights sometimes don't work. I found that just a little "tap" on the whole module gets them working. It's got to be a poor connection. I am not familiar with the lights on your car. Are the bulbs...

68 Mopar getting no spark from coil

Originally, his compliant was low voltage at the POS side of the coil with a PERTRONIX system. Pertronix wants battery voltage. By running a jumper from the POS side of the battery to the positive side of the coil (with PERTRONIX) your are giving the module and the coil what the system...

68 Mopar getting no spark from coil

What is the white wire on the coil for? I see two red leads going to the positive side. One should be from the distributor and the other your power source. What is the power source? Coil test...

    79 Cordoba Park Light Question

Did you win it? That's a pretty decent price for a NOS lens. I paid $65 for a front directional lens for my 72 Lincoln Mk IV. The dickweed that backed into me only had $40 on him so I had to settle for that.

68 Mopar getting no spark from coil

The module replaced the old mechanical points which when they were closed kept the primary circuit of the ignition system active which is basically holding back the secondary circuit or windings which is building up a much larger charge, in effect a step up transformer. When the points open or...

68 Mopar getting no spark from coil

You should have 12 volts coming to the positive (+) side of the coil the red wire from the distributor (Pertronix module) should be also connected to the positive side of the coil and the black wire to the Negative (-) side of the coil. Try this. Take the wire from ignition source off the coil...

It looks like there's a different curvature to from top to bottom. Contact Wildcat and send the picture. I misunderstood your original post. If they have one (I'm sure they do) they will send you a picture and a price for it. I've good luck with them. Sometimes they will work with you on a...

Problems with Pertronix Ignitor III distributor? Suggestions?

I have a Pertronix I in my 1972 Lincoln Mk IV. It's a points to electronic conversion unit that uses the OEM distributor by removing the points and installing the Pertronix trigger and control unit. You must use battery voltage, no ballast resistor or in the case of Ford, resistor wire. I...

    Unplugged

Maybe. Have you contacted Skip White products? Here's part of the instructions for one type of distributor they sell. ALL THIS UNIT NEEDS IS A FRESH 12 VOLT COIL, AND YOU SIMPLY HOOK UP THE TWO WIRES COMING FROM THIS DISTRIBUTOR TO THE COIL, AND THAT S IT. NOTICE THE CHROME BOX ON THE LOWER...

    Unplugged

I've some of their distributors and I have a feeling if you open that box on the side you will find a GM HEI module inside. There have been conversions using a Mopar electronic distributor (Hall Effect) and GM HEI modules and coils. It's a good alternative to the Mopar electronic conversion kits.

    Unplugged

Is the module a GM HEI type like this: They run about $25 ~ at most part stores. Here's a site that explains how to test it. http://forums.hotrod.com/car-craft/70/661769/general-car-craft-discussion/gm-hei-ignition-module-testing/

Where can I have a 1969 Starter for 440- Magnum serviced?

Found a shop that specialized in rebuilding starters and other electronics in my area. They rebuilt the starter for my 460 F**d engine in my 72 Lin***n. This was a number of years ago and it still works fine. Most of the large parts stores buy that stuff from places that mass produce reman's...
