    Biiig inch smallblock

Just get a good old 340 or 360 block and put a 4 inch stroke crank in it. Make 408 or 416 cubic inches. Thats pretty big for a small block. Get some good heads and a roller cam and you are off to the races.

"Work" do you love it or hate

I like my job, on the road traveling to different places every day. No boss over me shouting hurry up, I locate natural gas pipe lines, and telecommunications cables .

OK! so here's another 440 overheating issue.

Everyone's timing setup will be slightly different based on their engine combination. 16 advanced may be just right, i adjust mine until it pings and is hard to start when hot. then I back it off until it runs perfect. Too advanced timing could also be a cause of running hot.

OK! so here's another 440 overheating issue.

195 t stat is fine, i run one in my rebuilt 440. I drove it all around in 30 degree heat and it never went past 190. I think your problem may be timing related. Also combined with the fact that your engine is new. My 440 got real hot until I ran it a few times. It stopped over heating. If the...

I agree, I use my phone still. But I try to keep it to a minimum while in public, and not while walking around. It really looks dumb

How to tell if a factory crank dampner is for a steel crank

Steel crank damper is round and thin with no lobe to offset for balancing. It is completely neutral balance. A cast crank balancer is thicker, and has a lobe to offset for the balance externally. Also the cast crank balancer should say cast crank or something on it. Most forged steel balancers I...

Kick Down Adjustment on 727 70 RoadRunner ?????

The way it operates is when line pressure in v.body overcomes governor pressure, it shifts. So if you are driving down the road with constant pressure on the gas pedal. and it seems like your trans is hanging on, shifting from second to 3rd let off the gas a bit this reduces line pressure and...

    440 ****

I rebuilt my 440 about a year ago, its still running strong. Don't forget to offset your rear main seal slightly in the housing. If your oil pump drive gear is tight in the new bushing, install the shaft in a power drill chuck and run fine sandpaper on it to hone it a bit. Those are my two tips...

    New holley 750 problems.....need help

How is the power valve? is it the right one? Did you blow it by having a big backfire when tinkering with the carb?

    Leaking rear main seal

Another way to remove the old seal is to thread a drywall screw into it and use a slide hammer to tap it out.

    440 new build problems

Are you sure you lined up the marks on your camshaft properly? To degree it either at 0 or-4 or +4 degrees? If yes, it sounds to me like the floats could be stuck in your carb try tapping the bowl area lightly.

    318 truck problems

My friend just bought a 1987 ram 250 3/4 ton. It is a 318 2 barrel. It starts and drives ok, but wont kick down when you tramp on it. I am thinking the kick down rod may be mis-adjusted. The real problem is that it wouldn't accelerate. It just misses and hesitates real bad. I had to drive it...

    727 shift problem

I think some different years of torqueflites had different band adjustments. Yours might not have been set correctly. The front drum band adjustment is 1 1/2 turns out on some years and 2 1/4 turns out on others. I have a chrysler service manual from the 70 that gave different specs. Could have...
